Photographer – we sort of had to splurge, as the going rate where we live is around $3k
His suit – he can wear it for work again, so he bought a nice Burberry suit
Uplighting – still something we are discussing, as it wasn’t originally in the budget at all ($700)
Our rings – mines a plain platinum band from BN ($450) and he wants tungsten, which we will get for <$100
Flowers – we aren’t having any!
Alcohol – we can bring our own, which is huge

If you like vintage, there’s also savvyrow.co.uk – I have tons more if you’re looking for anything. I spent months researching and sourcing my clothes, and I bought everything from discount online retailers, to vintage/thrift, to full price premium retail, for various pieces.

saving-my venue, we were able to talk the price down per person from 200 to 150
splurge- our honeymoon, we decided to get a nicer room and stay a little longer, we figured if anything is to splurge on our very first vacation together should be it.

Splurge – Dress. I spent about $2,000 more then I wanted with my Vera Wang dress, sash and veil ($8,000).
Save – cutting certain traditional items is saving us money. No formal wedding party, no favors, skipping the cake in favor of other deserts.

Save — Wedding bands. The bands that were designed to go with our e-rings were really expensive ($800 for a plain white gold band contoured to my ring and $2000 for a band with some diamonds contoured to FI’s ring). We ended up finding bands for less than $1000. We also DIYed our Save the Dates and are hoping to save some money on flowers because neither of us gives a shit about them.
Splurge — Our venue is kind of pricey ($5500 plus a $3000 drink minimum), as is our photographer ($3800), so those are our real *wedding* splurges. If we’re talking wedding-related things, then our most expensive thing is the honeymoon ($10-12k for 3 weeks in New Zealand).
