So, it hurts… quite a bit.  One side for me hurts worse than the other.  I just had my 3rd wax ever yesterday, and it hurt considerablly LESS than it did the first time.  You will have the option of leaving your underwear on. You will get wax on them, so use an old pair.

Its definitely painful, but not unbearable. Try taking an ibuprofen before and it will help a little with the pain.

They will give you a pair of disposable underwear if you want to wear them, but its not really necessary to wear anything.

I suggest going to a place that uses hard wax instead of strips – its much less painful.

I’m not sure if you have Bliss Spa near you, but they definitely do the least painful waxes, but they are pretty pricey.

HEY you’ll never know unless you ask!

Parts of it hurts, the pelvis bone area is the worst! if your beautician is good she’ll tell you how to hold your skin a certian way so that it doesnt hurt as bad and she’ll tell you when to breath in and breath out, at least mine does and it helps alot! It will hurt if they wax the same spot bc they didnt get the hair the first time but for the most part its a wax and does hurt.

Where I go they put a towel over the area that isnt going to be waxed so your not just laying there exposed and they may also put powder on to help I guess pull the hair out.

Make sure you go the a reputable place because my sister had a terrible experience when she went for the first time and was left with bruise marks and bleeding. She couldnt walk it hurt so bad. I myself havent had an issues

Also dont go if you are taking any meds that will make your skin sensitive like an antibiotic. Some places wont ask but my salon does because it will make your experience horrible if you are taking certain meds  that make the skin sensitive. Try and take asprin or something before you go it will also help with the pain.

Good luck ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope this helps

It’s fine. It hurts but not “40 yr old virgin comedic screaming” pain. Honestly, the thought of it is significantly more painful than the reality. Pop a pain killer an hour before and you’ll be fine. And yes, you have to take your pants off. How else are they supposed to get down there? ๐Ÿ™‚ But if you have issues with privacy they do have these paper privacy panties you can use. I’ve never used them because I get everything taken off and I’m not shy when it comes to my lady parts.

One final note – make sure you have at least a 1/4 inch of growth before you see someone otherwise the wax can’t adhere to your hair and could adhere to your skin instead, which would be AWFUL. BUT, that being said, a good aesthetician will turn you away if you don’t have enough to work with.

I just started getting brazilian wax. The first  was painful in one area. But so worth it after the results. The second time was so much less painful. I’ll be going in for the third time, but the hair is so much thinner, softer and less. Should be a breeze. I recommend waxing vs shaving now. I don’t think K can ever go back to shaving. lol. That only last a day, waxing last up to 2-3 weeks until its more noticable and its time to go back.

I think it depends on your pain threshold.  I’m a gigantic wuss when it comes to pain.  I’ve never had a bikini wax, but I got my eyebrows done once and it was terrible.  The only redeeming quality about waxing, for me, is that it is over with quickly.  I think it’s one of those things that you have to experience first, then you’ll know if you can tolerate it or not.

I have super sensitive skin, so for me, certain areas were brutal and I literally yelped on the table! If you start, make sure you keep it up because once it all grows back (in a couple of months), then it’ll be like starting from the first time all over again and that is SO not fun. So with this in mind, make sure it’s an investment you are committed to. Mine costs about $50 or so each time, excluding tip. My salon suggests booking every 6 weeks.

Like PP said, pop an OTC pain medication (e.g. Advil) beforehand and it does take some of the edge off. Afterwards, in a few days, you should exfoliate regularly. My place sells a solution you can roll on and scrubbing brushes. I like it a lot more than shaving since the shaving grows back really quickly and it gets ridiculously itchy and irritated.

I’ve never gotten paper panties, but honestly, you kind of have to arrive with the mindset that they’ve seen it all and you can’t possibly have the grossest one they’ve seen! I would also avoid wearing anything too tight because the ride home will not be fun. I usually make Darling Husband drive so I can sit there and mope about how painful it is. ๐Ÿ™‚

Its been said before and it is painful but it really does get better after you have waxed a couple of times.

I think wether or not they see your lady parts depends on the type of waxing your going to get. For bikini wax they don’t need to see everything they just wax around your underwear area. For extended bikini wax and brazilian wax they will probably see everything because more hair gets removed. I am very shy so the first time I went it was a little intimidating but the beautician was great! She was really understanding and made me totally comfortable. Basically they’ve seen a lot of vajay jays they wont be seeing anything new so no need to worry :).

It’s not as bad as you imagine. ๐Ÿ™‚  It hurts, but it’s definitely worth it!

I just wanted to second the painkiller ahead of time and the hard wax instead of the strips.

A couple of other tips: I usually wear a dress and just take off my panties for the wax. Also, schedule for the week after your period.  Your pain threshold is higher ๐Ÿ™‚ It makes a big difference for me.
