I’m a bridesmaid in a friend’s wedding and she chose Bill Levkoff dresses. Beautiful dress, insane sizing.
For starters, I’m a street size 12 almost everywhere. Based on the idea that you are supposed to get the dress to fit your largest measurement (for me, that’s my hips), I should have ordered a size 22 or 24 according to their size chart. My waist and bust measurement would have put me at a size 18 on their size chart. However, I tried on a size 12 at the store and it fit with the exception of the lining being a tiny bit snug in the hips. It’s not that I was offended by the size that the size chart put me at or anything, but I couldn’t wrap my head around how a sample size 12 fit me (even if it was stretched out), but I needed to order a 22. The bridal shop where I tried on the sample refused to order me anything smaller than what the size chart recommended, which I understand.
So, I followed my gut and instead ordered the dress from an online retailer in a size 14. And….the entire dress is too big and needs to be taken in. 4 full sizes smaller than what the size chart recommended and it’s still too big! I know that everyone’s bodies and proportions are different and I’m sure the size chart works for some, but whaaaat in the world is up with that? I’m so glad I followed my instinct. Just a word of caution to anyone considering Bill Levkoff

Oh, and I have actually gained weight since I tried the sample on about 4 months ago. So that has nothing to do with it lol

- Wedding: June 2016 - Bell Tower on 34th
I chose a Bill Levkoff bridesmaid dress for my girls for my wedding in June 2016 and they ordered based on the sizing chart. Waaaaaayyyyyy too big! Expensive alterations!! I was really upset!
So yes, the recommended sizing chart sucks!!!

I chose Bill Levkoff too, and the dresses came in a couple of weeks ago. So far 3 of the girls have picked them up & tried them on…so far none of them have had sizing issues. Maybe it depends on how fitted the dress is? The ones I picked were only fitted at the bodice.
The dress shop did tell us Bill Levkoff runs shorter than average, so to order extra long for anyone 5’7 or taller…so far that seems like it was good advice, the dresses are not nearly as long as other dress designers and my 5’5 bridesmaid will barely need it hemmed.

yep! I’m 5’5″ and it’s so short I actually can’t wear heels with it lol

I have had the same issue with Bill Levkoff. Ordered a size 24, normally a street size 16. Ended up having to alter it down a few sizes. Was not very happy considering I had to pay for “extra material.”
Very, very pretty dresses, but it’s a shame they ask you to order something that clearly won’t fit.

My girlfriend had us order Bill Levkoff dresses for her wedding, GORGEOUS gowns. All of us went to try on different sizes and got sized…I had lost almost 25 pounds at this point in my life, an insane amount of inches everywhere, and they told me I was a dress size 14. That’s what size I was when I was my largest so I was like, how is that possible?! I was 3 different sizes on various parts of my body when they measured me. I somehow got lucky and needed minimal alterations but geeze it was discouraging.

My bridesmaid’s dresses aren’t from Bill Levkoff but we experienced similar problems. Both of my sister’s and my FSIL’s dresses were actually pretty spot on with what the sizing chart said, but my best friend’s dress was wayyy off. She is a street size 16, but according to her measurements I had to order a size 26. I thought it sounded off but did it anyway and it was ginormous. I returned it and ordered another about 3 sizes smaller. It’s still too big, but I know that the next size down will be too small so we’ll just have to get it taken in again. I can’t believe how off the size chart was for the bigger sizes. The dresses are from Chi Chi London orderd through Modcloth.

I am picking a Bill Bridesmaid or Best Man dress for my sister’s wedding. I am her only attendant and basically get to pick whatever dress/designer as long as it’s in a shade of purple. I really liked how the Bill dresses I tried fit compared to other brands. But yes, the sixing is so weird!
I am currently 21 weeks pregnant and we went looking over the weekend. FTM, so I feel I am sitll small and could somewhat fit into a 12/14 Bill dress. Once she makes a decision on what type of dress she’ll be getting, I’ll decide on 1 of the 2 styles I tried on. The one place I’ll probably get it (unless I just order online from some shop), they recommended the 14 since it could be altered. pre-PG, I was a 6/8/10 depending on the brand/style. I’ll be 3.5-4 months post-partum at her wedding so it’s hard to say what I’ll look like then.
Luckily, if we don’t use in house laterations… I can go to the gal who did my wedding dress and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Good to knonw about the length. I had flat sandals on with the sample dresses and they didn’t seem very long, and I’m 5’5″. I’d like to wear heels that day, but maybe not now.

Interesting. I just had 6 maids order Bill Levkoff based off of their measurements and none of them were big, minimal alterations are necessary actually. Agreed they do run short.
