Hi everyone. I was just curious if anyone used the Billings Method to successfully conceive. I have been TTC for +1 year and am reaching the point of intervention. I met with a specialist at an expo yesterday who specializes in this method of family planning. Looking for stories, opinions and info.

debinoxford: hi there 🙂 I used the billings method for 6 months to successfully avoid pregnancy and then it took 2 cycles to conceive when we wanted to get pregnant. have you been charting with the billings method while ttc?

I hadn’t heard of it before now. I track CM and take my temp every morning. Still no luck at all. That’s really good to hear from someone who used it successfully for TTA and TTC.

If you’re already taking your temp and tracking your CM, I’m not really sure it would make much difference. I thought it was designed for women who don’t already know when they ovulate, to make sure they BD during their fertile window?
I don’t know though, maybe it’s still worth a try. Sorry it’s taking so long for you – FX you get your BFP soon.

I used Creighton successfully both to avoid and conceive, and we’ll pick it back up again once the baby arrives next year. It’s not exactly the same as Billings but it is based off Billings so it’s probably similar. I don’t know what Billings has as far as fertility help, although I know there is a growing network of doctors trained in Creighton/Napro who are having a lot of success treating fertility issues. Maybe take your chart to one of them? It’s probably close enough that they could at least figure it out a bit. One of my friends was TTC for five years without any luck, but finally after they decided to do everything that the creighton/Napro doctors were offering (it did require several surgeries, travel, etc hence their hesitation), they got pregnant within about six months to a year. Now she’s pregnant with #2. Might be worth looking into since you already have a similar chart and it wouldn’t be hard to switch methods if they needed you to.
Charting alone isn’t going to fix or help with any fertility problems, aside from just giving you a non-hormonal alternative to contraception and letting you know when your fertile window is.
