So I just set my wedding date and my parents are already putting me in the middle. Dad has said he would not feel comfortable “sharing the aisle” with my stepdad. However, there was 8 years of my life i did not talk to my dad that my stepdad was around. My dad and I are fine now and have been for a few years now, but that doesn’t change the fact that my stepdad was there for me. Both of my stepparents have been in my life 10+ years and I think it is important to represent them in my wedding, but I can’t include one and not the other.
Is it okay to stand up to my dad and ask that in some way he share the aisle with my stepdad. Even if its half way or something? Or should I really find another role for my stepfather? I just feel that a reading at the ceremony or a toast doesn’t represent him well enough. Please help!
