@ecrowe1218:  I did some homework after my hairdresser recommended it and I saw other people say this.  I started with a way lower dosage but I haven’t been consistent with taking it so I don’t know for sure

I tried taking biotin about 6 months ago and my (normally perfect) face haa never broken out so bad. It was like a 15 year old boy. I stopped taking it and now I’m back to normal.

@ecrowe1218:  I got SEVERE cystic acne when I started taking Biotin.  I’ve never had acne issues, aside from maybe one that would pop up during my period, until I started taking Biotin.  I stopped taking it and my face cleared up.

@ecrowe1218:  Me & my mom have the same issue with biotin- mostly cystic acne which is soo much worse than regular acne. I stopped taking the skin hair & nail supplements and switched to a pre-natal multivitamin. It’s got pretty much the same stuff with some extras, minus the biotin…. My face cleared up within a few months of not taking the biotin… Many pre-natals also have zinc in them, and I do notice that my skin is clearer when I stay on schedule taking them- but I have no idea if that’s actually the zinc or another ingredient…

I took it for awhile (a long with other things, can’t remember them all) but didn’t notice a real difference.  Honestly, there are only 2 things that worked for me.

1) Giving up dairy.  Look it up!  Some people are highly sensitive to the growth hormones in dairy and it results in cystic acne.  This is true regardless of whether or not it’s organic because all milk has growth hormones in it.

2) Birth control pills.

@ecrowe1218:  Your dosage is too high.  If you lower the dosage, it will go away.  The same thing happened to my sister.  Now she takes a much lower dose and has no problems with it!

@mu_t:  +1 I started taking Zinc and Vitamin D for my skin and it looks so much better.

For hair and nails, I just use things that I apply to my hair and nails. I read somewhere taking something for hair and nails is only going to effect the new growth, not your existing hair and nails so it will take until they both grow out a lot to see the effects which could be months. I couldn’t be bothered. I also read like others have said compaints of acne upon taking Biotin and didn’t want to risk it since my skin was finally starting to clear up.

@ecrowe1218:  I started deep conditioning my hair with coconut oil once a week & it’s been looking and feeling amazing since then. If you pair that with regular trims and massaging your scalp in the shower you should be just fine. I also started putting a protein on my nails which have always been brittle & peeling. It works amazingly well- I tried a few others but this one was by far the best… It’s called Nailtiques Level 2, basically a liquid vitamin/protein you “paint” on your nails once a day for a week, then remove & start over. It can be used under or over regular nailpolish & I never had any issues with it chipping or peeling off. What I really loved is that your nails are still strong and hard feeling even a few weeks after you take it off & stop using it. I’d give it a try!!!

@ecrowe1218:  Yep! My skin is pretty flawless, so when I started getting a few blackheads I knew it was from the biotin.
