I had a hair trial a few weeks ago. I love the style I chose and plan to wear it the same way at the wedding in a few weeks. However, I originally bought hair combs that matched my color scheme and used those in the hair trial. At the same time, I became obsessed with birdcage veils and I had one made by an Etsy designer. So this is my dilemma…do I stay with the hair combs and skip the veil or do I wear the veil (which comes with a flower fascinator) OR do I go crazy and do both? Meaning I wear the birdcage veil during the ceremony and change into the combs for the reception? If that’s even a realistic option (without messing up my hair). I’ve attached pics of the hair trial (including the combs) and pics of the birdcage veil I had made, as well as my dress. I appreciate your opinions and suggestions!

Ooh, you can always find an excuse to wear hair combs (right? or is it like a tiara?) but where on earth will you wear a birdcage veil?
I should mention that I’m a huge birdcage veil fan (who knew?) so I may be biased…

I vote birdcage veil as well. I love them! My mom said I shouldn’t wear one though, so I’m not 🙁 That’s ok though, I like what I got too.

Yup, I would definitely wear the birdcage veil….I LOVE your dress btw!!!! Could you have your hairdresser show one of your BM’s or someone you trust how to take off the veil and put in the combs for the reception? Although I think I would wear the veil all night…but if you would be more comfortable without it for the reception you could totally do the combs for that.

Sorry I’m having a hard time getting it to post the pic of my hair trial, but this is what my combs look like.

Your combs are pretty, but have to rock that birdcage veil. It is so beautiful & will add a touch of drama to your ensemble.
JoesWifey: I’m sad for you. My mom hated that I’m wearing a birdcage veil (she liked the idea of a backcomb veil or a big flower) I considered listening to her, but it was one detail that I had to have. She’s getting a little more used to the idea.

Where is your wedding/reception? I love a birdcage for a party atmosphere — have you considered being a two-veil bride? 🙂

The wedding and reception are both in a performing arts center -very modern building. And our ceremony is secular. Thanks!

How funny! I just did a search to look at birdcage veil opinions, and that’s my dress! I was concerned the dress was too… fancy? poofy? to wear with a birdcage veil… glad to hear that it may be ok!!
