What about dried or fresh lavender? It smells AMAZING, and I think it’s a bit more original that rose petals.

Check with your venue. I was going to see if we could do lavender, but we were told no. We aren’t really leaving the venu; I was just going to get a staged shot. Bubbles or something handheld, like the wands and/or flags were just about the only options that the venue would allow, so we aren’t doing anything. I suggest calling your venue and asking them what they will allow; then you can go from there.

Or, if you don’t want things thrown at you, you could buy or DIY pinwheels in your wedding colors. Could be super cute!

Some venues will allow biodegradeable confetti or ecofetti.

I saw a site that had long ribbons attached to sticks that guests waved around.  The ribbons were colors of the wedding and lines formed on either side of the sidewalk and it looked pretty cool.  We are just doing bubbles.

I love the ribbon wands. Sooo pretty in pictures.

I know we rent out the gardens for the house museum I work for and we do not allow birdseed or rice but one bride really wanted something along those lines so for some reason we allow rice krispies but not rice or birdseed. So that’s an alternative if you still want something thrown at you. However, I like the thought of lavender or biodegradable confetti better.

I love the pinwheels but also, I’d like to note that I was at Michael’s crafts last weekend and they are now selling “safe” birdseed- if you have your heart set on that! I can’t find it online on the store’s site, but here’s a link to it on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Rice-Designer-Wedding-order-Favors/dp/B000NYHPHY
