I know more than a handfull of women who’ve gotton pregnant on the pill just by missing a couple. You have nothing to worry about!

I had the same fear because ive been on birth control for 12 years so I spoke to my doctor about it and he said its possible to get pregnant from the week you stop taking your pill. My SIL stopped taking hers early because she thought it would take months to conceive but she fell pregnant before they got married and they had to rush the wedding forward. I would continue on birth control until after the wedding and then see when you feel ready.

Birth control is out of your system in days.  Some women’s systems might take a little time to regulate and figure out what is going on but that is usually about 2-3 cycles.  Others are regular right away and get pregnant as soon as they go off.  Your fertility goes back to what it would have been.  If it takes a year or more to get pregnant it is not BCP’s fault IMO.  I believe research shows that after 3 cycles women who had been on BCP have the same pregnancy rates as those who were never on BCP.

I was on BC for 12 years before TTC. Got off 2 months before we started trying, so I could regulate my thyroid. Got pregnant our 3rd month trying.

Some women it does take a long time to regulate again. Not because it’s still in your system but just because your body has to take over again and sometimes it takes its sweet time! If I were you I’d go off the pill a month or two before you plan on TTC and use other protection. There’s nothi worse than being ready to TTC and suddenly having 60 day cycles because your body is still out of whack

I would wait until after the wedding. You never know if you’ll be the person who reacts negatively to not having the hormones (acne, bleeding, spotting, cramping, weight gai. Etc) also you could get pregnant right away. Never know.

I got pregnant in four months after stopping BC.

Edit: My cycles never got back to normal before I got knocked up.

I got pregnant my second cycle off BC. I debated stopping it before the wedding but I’m sooooo glad I didn’t because I gained 10 lbs and broke out like crazyyy. It wasn’t pretty! Good luck!

princessbride2017:  I had been on BC for 9.5 years and got off May 2015 and started TTC June 2015. We tried for 4 months then took 3 months off because of our crazy work schedules and holiday time. We started TTC again this past Jan 2016 and I got pregnant. That was the first time I ovulated since being off the pill. So I got pregnant on my 5th month and was off the pill for 8 months total. I would wait until after the wedding to stop birth control because the side effects of coming off can suck. I gained weight, had terrible migraines, awful cramps/backaches, and my periods were heavy.

I was on BCP for almost 10 years and got pregnant my first month off. It’s designed to leave your system within a couple days (hence the daily pill) but for some women it takes a couple months for their bodies to adjust. In my experience and people I know personally, most of the time their bodies snapped back right away into ovulating like they were never even on it. Hope This Helps
