I’m on the pill. I’m happy with it. I don’t experience any negative side effects, I just have an app on my phone to remind me to take it so I never miss one. I’ve never had a pregnancy scare with it. If I didn’t trust it, I wouldn’t use it.

I have an iud (imrena). I used to take the pill, but I’m forgetful and not super careful and had a few scares from taking the wrong pill or forgetting for a few hours. I also got head aches and bloating with the pill.

With the IUD I have much fewer side effects. I also don’t have my period at all and it’s really nice to not have to deal with that.

Was on the pill Tri-cyclen lo for about 4 years, then took Seasonale to only get my period every three months. Was on it about two years.

Switched to nuvaring about 4 years ago for the sake of not having to remember a pill everyday. The monthly period doesn’t bother me because it’s lighter and less crampy.

I have never had any issues or pregnancy scares!

The implanon ruined my life – 2 periods a month for a year.

The pill gave me a blood clot and I had to take blood thinners for a year.

I have the copper IUD. No side effects because its hormone free. I’ve not had kids and it hurt like hell getting in but take like 30sexonds. Bad cramping day 1 and for the first 6 months had much heavier periods but its been a year and everything is fine. 😁

Lasts 10 years but I think by then MR will consider getting the ship. otherwise I will just get it again

Commenting to follow. smile

I am thinking of an IUD but not sure which one. Not thinking about the pill at all because of my crazy life/schedule. (Lighter periods would be definitely nice, but I do not want to do away with them altogether.)

I’m on the pill. I’ve used it for years and I like it. I’ve never had any pregnanct scares and it helps my period and my mood.

I have a mirena and it is great. I get no periods or like one day of spotting. It’s amazing not to have to think about it at all.

we used condoms before and that is how we became pregnant. Also, we both hated them.

The pill made me gain weight, which is why I opted for the mirena after my son was born.

mrsknc :  Are you planning on having more children? I have the one son and I do plan to have more kids in the next 2-3 years. So is IUD an optimal idea for such a short time or do you think it’s overkill and I should go to condoms instead?

I had a copper IUD for 3 years and loved that it was hormone free. Insertion hurt SO BAD and my first few periods afterwards were heavy/painful but after that I could completely forget about it. No hormones, no pregnancy scares, no remembering to take a pill.

I think I read somewhere that it’s more effective than both BCP and condoms.

Had it taken out in September and was pregnant 6 weeks later. 🙂

queenie8119 :  yes, we plan to have more children. It is good for 5 years, so I wasn’t 100% on getting it because I knew I wouldn’t need it for the full 5 years and it seemed like a waste, but we decided to just go for it bc it was fully covered by insurance and really seemed easier overall, even if we didn’t get the full 5 years out of it. My son is almost 2 and I will probably take it out January 2019. I got it January 2017 right after my 6 week checkup.

I would still recommend it, (depending on your insurance coverage). The peace of mind is worth it to me! I knew condoms would not work for us, because we didn’t use them the whole time I was pregnant and we really didn’t want to go back. 😬

I was on the pill for years (Marvelon, Microgynon and Cilest) The last one did NOT suit me at all. I spotted throughout my cycle and was very down in the dumps.

I never had a pregnancy scare while on it.

I came off to TTC which took several years. After my son was born I started to use Natural Cycles app and condoms. This worked great for me and I liked that it was hormone free. I didn’t have any pregnancy scares while using it. I could also use the app to plan my current pregnancy.

I plan to go back to using that after this baby until I stop feeding and then I am having my tubes tied.

I use nuvaring, which I like. I run the rings together (3x 3 weeks) with one week off, so have a period every 10th week. The only side effect I’ve noticed really is dryness. The convenience of not having to think about it must of the time works well for me.

Hubby and I will be TTC soon, our plan is to come off nuvaring and switch to fertility awareness/condoms for a few months to let my body regulate itself. I have a Daysy to figure it all out with too.

I’ve been on Lo Loestrin Fe but am switching to Nuvaring after Lo Loestrin Fe gave me some pretty nasty side effects (fatigue, nausea, depression, super super irregular periods) I’ve heard great things about Nuvaring!

Unfortunately I use my BC to prevent ovarian cysts and not to prevent pregnancy so don’t have any advice about potential for pregnancy scares.
