What are you planning on using? I’m 8 weeks postpartum & for the last month (?) Darling Husband & I have been using the POM. Not smart, I know. At my 6 week appointment, my doctor mentioned the mini pill since it’s not supposed to affect breastfeeding & I declined. I called back today to have her call me in a prescription for it. I want more children, just not *right now*.
Has anyone taken the mini pill? Did it affect your supply? Side effects?
What’s everyone using as BC after baby?

@MARIE901: Hey lady! No input, I just wanted to say hello and tell you I’m super jealous that you and your hubby have been having relations for the past month! You must have had a quick recovery. I am 5.5 weeks postpartum I’m still dealing with stiches/pain! Boo! Hope all is going well with your LO!

@78h2o: hehe! I guess since I had a csection I was able to do the deed quicker? I don’t know, but we started 3 weeks PP & haven’t had any issues. I was so scared it would hurt, but it didn’t. I hope your stitches heal & your pain goes away quickly!

We used condoms. But then, I didn’t like being on the pill and we had been using condoms for a couple of years before TTC as well.

Breastfeeding can act like birth control, at least for the first six months, if you breastfeed every two hours. If this is done, it can be about 100% effective. However, if you don’t breastfeed every two hours, it’s far less effective.

Ecological breastfeeding is VERY effective! No longer than 3-4 hours between feedings, 5 hours MAX through the night, no binki’s, keeping baby close via babywearing & co-sleeping/co-bedding, and your period hasn’t returned it’s 97% effective until 6 months and then 94% from 6-12 months.
Dear Daughter has gone over night a couple times to grandmas & we couldn’t comfort nurse in the beginning due to lots of feeding issues so we had to use a binki but next time we hope to be able to use breastfeeding!
This time we use condoms until I get comfortable with NFP.

@MARIE901: I’m getting the Paraguard IUD, hormone free and birth control that I don’t have to think or worry about.

We used charting & condoms after I came off the pill before we started TTC (about 8 months) and it worked for us, so I think we’ll try that again. The charting might have to wait until the baby is sleeping through the night though!

I have an IUD. I’m glad all I have to do is check the strings. I had enough of keeping up with those damn pills for 10yrs. Eff that!LOL I thought about charting, but it’d be too much mentally and now after she is 1, I’m JUST getting my nomal brain back where I’m not so scatterbrained!LOL

Ugg I’m in the same boat as you. I’m 7 weeks post. We still haven’t had relations because I haven’t been cleared yet. My stitches haven’t healed. Go back next week to check them again. My doctor gave me a regular BC prescription because I told her I was going to start weening him. But now I’m feeling different about weening him now. So I’m thinking about asking her next week for the pill you are talking about. I don’t want the IUD because I’m older and if we want more kids we probably need to start trying at the end of the year or early next year. Sounds weird thinking about trying again! I’m scared to rely on Pull Out, Condoms or Breast feeding. I have a girlfriend who has a 12 month old and has a baby due in a few weeks.
