    FAM.

I had Mirena for a year and a half and had some issues.

What about the implanon, or whatever it’s called now. The one they put in your arm…

I am on ortho tricyclin lo — it took me a couple tries before i found the which hormonal pill worked for me and didn’t make me crazy.  I tried lo loestrin FE and it made me psyyychoooo.  I love ortho lo.  i get no side effects, other than clearer skin and periods that only last one day and zero cramps. maybe try the lo dosage hormonal pills?

I’m on ortho tricyclin lo as well. Went through several types before we found this one. Yaz made me crazy (and then they found out it causes blood clots, so you know.) Loestrin had breakthrough bleeding problems for me. Those are the only examples I can think of. The ortho is working out great for me. No severe side effects.

I haven’t missed a day in years but I am just learning to take it at the exact same time every night.

SO and I are both waiting for marriage for religious reasons, but we plan to continue the birth control as well as use either condoms or the pull-out method and never risk going “all the way” if I might be ovulating. We are getting married both poor and young, so we will have enough to worry about even without a baby. We really just can’t have a surprise pregnancy for several years! So we’re pulling out all the stops. 🙂

I tried the pill but it made me feel all whacky like I was just getting off a rollercoaster.

I had Mirena put in 5 months ago and my periods have completely stopped and no side effects. It’s awesome!

Pills always made me crazy. I tried the patch but had a reaction to the adhesive, plus it was gross and left sticky black marks on my body. Now I’m on Nuvaring and I LOVE IT!!! No craziness here and periods are much calmer. Still, we do use condoms at the same time because we cannot afford to have a baby right now. We use all the methods we can lol.

I am gonna agree with PP’s and suggest you pill shop or try the Nuvaring. Try different brands and dosages.

@babeandbabe:  I was about to suggest diaphragm, and yes they still make them.

OP, I have a friend who uses diaphragm + spermicidal jelly + coitus interruptus, and it has worked well for her for the past year.

there’s different hormonal birth control out there , don’t count ALL of them out because  one made you feel “crabby”. You have to test out a few

I use a little bit of two options.  I used NFP specifically the Creighton model to figure out which days are a go and which ones are a no go.  But I am not against condom usage so during the more fertile times we use rubbers or pull out and definitely for O day we use rubbers.  I have always used rubbers and no BC so I don’t have any issues with them what so ever.  They are extremely effective if used properly.  I know you mentioned condoms aren’t your fav but maybe you could do something like use them only during your fertile times and go without the rest of the month. 🙂
