There are SO many different kinds. Even different generics of the “same” medication can make you react differently. Some have lower doses of hormones. If you are having bad side effects you can probably find one that works better for you. When I first got on birth control I tried 2 or 3 before I found one that didn’t seem to give me any side effects. Good luck!

Bee, I am so sorry you’re having a rough time with BC. Like others have said, they can all affect you differently.

I had a really bad experience with multiple types of BC: pill, patch, and ring. I would get incredibly depressed, anxious, and have extremely bad mood swings with each type I tried. I finally switched to the paraguard IUD about 8 years ago, and it completely changed my life. It’s non-hormonal, so gone are the mood swings and depression. On the flip side, when I was on hormonal BC, I was a few pounds heavier and had much bigger boobs. I look back at photos from that time period and miss the way I looked. It was the only time in my life I actually had some clevage.

Of you’re unhappy with your current method, go talk to your doctor about experimenting with various types and see how your body reacts.
