I used to be on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and had to switch off – I went onto a generic called Junel and I’ve had problems with my cycle ever since – it’s gone from either no period at all – to spotting all month, to one to two days of a heavy flow. I’m switching back… I didn’t get it last month and I’m tired of it!

I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen in college, and it was intense.  I had long, heavy, and really painful periods while on it.  After three months my doctor switched me to something a lot milder.  I don’t remember what the new one was called.

I am now on Necon 1-35 and it is great.  I have short, light periods.

I don’t know about that particular pill, but the generic of ortho tri cyclen is called trinessa.  I’m assuming the “tri” in both names refers to the fact that they each have tree levels of hormones- they get stronger each week of the pack.  The fact that your pill is called “mono”nessa might mean that it’s the same level of hormones each week.  If you just switched from a three-level to a one-level pill, that could be causing some of your problems.
