If Bees are looking for entertainment, go read mathlove10’s other posts. Some trolls have a sense of humor.

mathlove10 :  If you’re not a troll, my apologies, and also my apologies for thinking you and your fiance are a couple of odd ducks.

bearinabeecostume :  OOOOOOOHHHHHH the cookie fundraiser… boyfriend wanted his money back from a kids fundraiser because he got sick after eating the cookies.

Now it makes sense. You’re buying a birthday present anyway, might as well make a buck while you’re at it, by allocating some of the cost to the recipient.

This would have solved some of Sheldon Coopers gift giving dilemmas. If his gift that he gave  is not as expensive as the gift that he received, he can just pay the difference and be done!

mathlove10 :  if it’s common in your culture then why are you asking? When I give a gift I pay for all of it and I pick it out myself. The closest I can think of a situation akin to what you’re suggesting was when I was just out of college and really dying for an expensive camera. My parents offered to split it with me since the portion they paid is what they would have normally spent on me for my birthday. I didn’t ask for the camera though – they knew I had been researching them and said “hey Lilli, how about we just give you 2/3 of the cost of that camera you’ve been saving up for?”.

zzar45 :   Sansa85 :  Yes! And sadly, no follow up on either post by OP. Did bf get his money back, and how many people actually showed to the dinnr party, and was the house left a mess, and did anyone use OP’s master bedroom toilet?

I usually just send each relative, even distant ones that I don’t speak to a Venmo request. It started with $100 for my first birthday, now that I’m turning 32 soon it’ll be $3200 each. It makes it easier than having them choose between gifts and what not.
