I would choose one to be his birthday gift and wrap it in Non-xmas paper – just to show him how special he is!

Fi and I’s dating anniversary is Dec 23rd and we go out of our way to keep it separate than christmas and it makes it feel more special!

My FIs birthday is December 24th and usually I will get him a birthday present and we won’t exchange Christmas gifts. His sister’s b-day is December 25th…guess we know when his mom was fertile….Fiance and his little sister are 16 years apart almost to the day…weird right?

Since we are getting married around Christmas, I bought him a wedding present and I am now trying to figure out what to get for his b-day.

My Birthday is December 25th! : )

I actually dont ask for presents anymore so I dont run into this problem hehe.

But everyone when i was young would always give me two gifts in one. It used to make me so mad!

My birthday is January 2nd, and I must say that I get irritated when I get gifts in Christmas paper, or even worse, when people just skip my birthday all together!  I know it’s a week after Christmas, but everyone else gets special recognition on their birthday, so why shouldn’t I too? So I veto the birthday-gift-wrapped-in-Christmas-paper idea.  And he’s going to get both gifts anyways, so just pick one to give him on Christmas and the other to give him on his bday.  Shouldn’t matter which one you give when.

My moms birthday is on christmas and my dads birthday is on new years…they like to look at it as HUGE celebrations for their birthday lol. I always end up getting my mom 2 separate gifts, like something small and then something nice. My dad doesn’t like getting gifts, so usually I just buy him 2 separate cards!

As one whose birthday is a week prior to Christmas I will share with you my personal rules. I cannot say every December birthday feels the same way, but hopefully it will help you.

First of all it is nice to get a birthday gift that is seperate from a christmas gift. There are times I get “joint” gifts and this is annoying if its the price of one gift, and completely fine if it is something nicer.

I hate to have my birthday gift wrapped in Christmas paper. I should note here that I absolutley love Christmas. I love all things Christmas. My birthday isn’t Christmas. Simple as that! Now I’ve had many birthday parties growing up where I had birthday gifts wrapped in Christmas paper. It wasn’t a big deal. I just wanted my family and close friends to know me well enough to know what I don’t like.

So I’m with everyone else to pick one item to be for his birthday and wrap it in standard birthday paper. 🙂

My sister’s birthday is 12/28, and she used to HATE it when people would combine Christmas/birthday presents, or wrap her birthday present in Christmas paper. Plus, she always used to complain that when she was a kid, the importance of her birthday was dwarfed by Christmas, and once she hit 21, no one cared about her birthday because they were gearing up for New Year’s. So, for your SO, I would absolutely find wrapping paper that’s distinctly *birthday*, or at the very least, make sure it looks nothing like the stuff you’re using for Christmas presents.

Oh the dreaded “it’s your birthday AND Christmas gift”.  Being born 4 days from Christmas, I definitely got that.  It’d be nice to distinguish both, acknowledge that his birthday is something special to you, separate from Christmas!

I am so happy that I found this post. I thought I was the only one who felt this way. My birthday is December 15th. What I have found is that ever since I entered my teens is that people would pretty much forget about my birthday since they were focused on Christmas. I am not one of those people who needs other to make a big fuss over my birthday, but it would be nice if people did at least something to show that they care, even if it was something simple like making plans for dinner or flowers.

My cousin was born on Christmas, and my daughter’s birthday is two days after Christmas…and the family KNOWS:  birthday presents are completely separate from Christmas presents!!  That means no holiday wrapping paper for the birthday gift!
