my birthday was yesterday and so I thought I should give a little update 🙂
Boyfriend or Best Friend took me out for a movie and a dinner, and he gave me a beautiful bracelet and roses as a present. No proposal… but that’s okay, we still had an amazing time.
Then after we came home from dinner, my little brother called me to say happy birthday… and to tell me that he is engaged!! He moved in with his Girlfriend a few months ago and they are getting married in March 2012. I have to admit that this came as a surprise (he’s 20 and I thought he would wait a little longer), but I am very happy for him.
The thing is, my brother and his Fiance don’t have a lot of money as they are still students, and she doesn’t have a very good relationship with her parents. Therefore, I am presuming that my parents will end up paying for most of their wedding. Of course, that leaves me wondering if this will have any impact on their ability to contribute to my wedding (selfish though, I know!). My parents have previously offered to pay for catering and venue when I get married, and of course this is a big part of the total costs.
I talked to Boyfriend or Best Friend about this last night as we have tentatively discussed summer of 2012 as our wedding date, but now that my brother is getting married in the spring I told Boyfriend or Best Friend that maybe that means that we won’t be able to get married in 2012. Boyfriend or Best Friend told me not to worry about it, and that my parents probably will still contribute even if we get married in the same year as my brother. I said to Boyfriend or Best Friend ‘I hope so, because 2013 and 2014 seem so far away’. Boyfriend or Best Friend then said ‘Don’t worry, we can get married whenever you want!’
So from BF’s reaction to this, it seems like he’s okay with 2012 as our wedding date, which means that the engagement will most likely happen this spring or summer 🙂
(Sorry, this was a bit long 😛 )
