Oh wow, I can totally relate. I’m engaged now, but last year when I knew he wanted to propose to me, those commercials were so awkward and annoyingAnd it was even worse when we were with my parents, because my mom had kept asking me when we were going to take it to the next level. Then this past May he proposed to me, but seeing those commercials now just reminds me of how greedy the jewellery companies get around the holidays :/

Haha I’ve not seen any jewellery ads on tv- in the UK ours seem to be about christmas foods and “spreading the cost of christmas” by taking out low interest loans…. But i can imagine it would be awkward!

I’m with you @Evanstobe

SO & I have talked about the future, marriage/children/getting new house but whenever those commercials come on it’s so strange because I feel like he’s being pressured or something even though I obviously have no control over what commercials are on! I don’t even say anything about them it’s just silence until it’s over…so weird. It doesn’t get any better until after Valentines Day ugh!

I’m married and they still drive me crazy.  I especially hate the Leo Diamond one where the guy proposes in the jewelry store.  Nope, sorry, I just don’t find that romantic at all.  And if I hear “Every kiss begins with Kay’s” or “He went to Jared” one more time, I might just lose it.  Not every woman wants jewelry for Christmas.  I would be upset he spent money on a bauble rather than save it up for our mini-moon in February or our anniversary trip to the UK next fall.

Can you record shows and fast forward through commercials? That’s what we do.

I dunno… can’t you just address the elephant in the room? I don’t get why talking about marriage has to be such a taboo thing.

@Evanstobe:  I was MORE irritated by them last year.  I couldn’t stand them.

This year I’m more like Undecided and less like Yell

I’ve gotten better about waiting as the time progresses.

I remember waiting and seeing those commercials and thinking “oh holy crap, aaawwwkkwarrddd!” haha! But truely, they are so corny and ridiculous. Did you see the Zales one where the dude grabs a lightning bug out of the air and it turns into a “candy colored diamond” ring from Zales. Gimme a break.

OMGGGGG they drive me nuts!  On Hulu, every single commercial that comes on during my shows is for diamonds!  Thankfully my SO usually doesn’t watch TV with me, but COME ON!  And half the time I end up cursing out loud (when he isn’t home) or grumbling to myself (when he is).  There are also a LOT of commercials on the radio here for local jewelers.  Sometimes I am in my car driving to work when they come on.  I end up mocking them….which makes me a liiiiittle concerned about the status of my waiting right now.  I might be starting to lose it!  One more commercial and who knows! LOL!

I get irrationally psychotic when I’m driving the highway near my house because of a particular local jewler who used billboards that say “Ask her already!” and “The Answer is Yes!”. So ANGRY because I actually am jealous of how well the ads work!

As far as commericals I hate th Kay one where she goes “Just seeing right?” and she’s like “Oh it fits!” and he says “I know, I had it sized” and pops the question in the middle of the store. OH HELL NO. That is not gonna be the story I tell my grand kids.

@kandykane1:  Don’t worry, I’m engaged and Fiance and I both mock the radio commercials because they’re so ridiculous. We also laugh when the store owner who sold us my ring comes on because he just does not have a radio voice.

I too am hooked on Netflix and don’t watch much TV but I listen to Pandora a lot while I work on my computer and almost every ad stuck on the side was about Tacori rings, Diamonds Direct, etc. I figured its because of my searches and posts on Wedding Bee and since they monitor every key stroke we make these days I didn’t think anything over it.  But I really started to feel crazy when almost every other commercial on the radio seemed to be Jared, Kays, or Diamonds Direct and even the recent Panthers/Patriots football game was sponsored by, what seemed to be JUST Diamonds Direct!!! I thought, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I’d rather the ads be relegated to my television set but I seem to be bombarded at every turn in my every day life! Really trying not to hope for a Christmas/NYE proposal but as the days draw closer, I really want it to be. Undecided
