Love it! My mom still thinks it is inappropriate to wear black to a wedding as a guest so she wouldn’t let me get black Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses lol! But she was paying for them so we compromised on silver. ANyways go for it- it looks very elegant and classic!

people are just used to black being a funeral color but i’ve seen quite a few weddings with black bridesmaids dresses and they all looked very chic and stylish

I don’t think black dresses would remind me of a funeral.  I’ve worn black as a guest.  I think black is a bit “over done” for Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, but it does look nice.

@OutsideWeddingBee:  I think black is fine for an evening wedding, but I’m not a huge fan of that dress.  Since black is black, maybe you can just let your bridesmaids pick out their own LBD that is most flattering to them.  A bridesmaids dress they might actually wear again!

I also have my mom’s voice in the back of my head saying “Black isn’t for young girls, you should wear color.” So of course now I like color for weddings. But that’s just my thing, you should love your bridesmaids dresses and if you love black, than go for it!

I’ve been a Bridesmaid or Best Man in two weddings wearing black and they are always my FAVORITE!  Flowers pop and it looks classy and elegant (not funeral) in pictures.

Black Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses are no longer an anolomy. My mom thought the same thing about the wedding looking like a funeral.

At weddings, you give them bright or white flowers and if your’e in a white dress it will look classy not like death. It’s all about contrast!

I like black because it is classy, and usually very flattering on anyone.

Mine will be in black also, I think it’s beautiful. And since everyone looks good in black, chances are none of your BMs will have any complaints either! 🙂

when my sister got married 9 years ago, she was living in Florida (all family is from new york and michigan) and she had her wedding in florida. she had all of her bridesmaids pick there own black dress to wear. it was so classy, elegant and beautiful. and it was cheap for all of her bridesmaids as well and they could pick something they would wear again. anyways, i think black and white weddings are so classy and everyone ALWAYS looks good in a LBD. GO FOR IT 🙂 i wish i had some pics to share with you, unfortunately it was before digital lol

I’m doing black Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, and letting each girl choose their own.

@ladyox: do you have any pictures of your bridesmaids together? I’m trying to gather pictures of other mismatched black Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses to send to my girls for inspiration pics.

My sister chose black for the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses because her favorite color is black.  She did get a lot of ‘suggestions’ for other colors, but stuck with what she liked and didn’t regret it.  So, I say go for black Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses!
