I think it looks great but I’m a bit over it as so many people are doing it now.

I like the idea mostly because black looks great on me, haha.  To avoid the “funeral” feel you could always spice it up with colorful shoes, jewelry or hair accessories.

I LOVE black bridesmaids dresses. Elegant and the flowers and other colors really pop out against them!

I think the dresses are beautiful.  Black is nice and it can ALWAYS be worn again; especially the style you have chose.  I love it.  🙂

Love it – i think it’s a generation thing.  My mother thinks the same thing as does FIs mother.  I”m planning on having my girls wear black this summer, and i wondered the same thing, but i’m goin for it anyways 🙂  Love your convertible dress idea too!

My girls are wearing black with teal accents. I love it because they actually CAN wear it again, it is so much more fattering and you don’t have to worry about whether the color matches EXACTLY. Plus, I think it just looks really classy and pretty and makes any color you put with their dress really pop.

Considering people don’t even necessarily wear black to funerals anymore no, I don’t see it as a bad color. It’s elegant, classy AND the Bridesmaid or Best Man can probably wear them again. Even better is a bride that tells them a classy black cocktail dress that they can get and definitely wear again. I was going to be in one wedding where the groom himself said they had to be black dresses, and wanted something the girls would wear again because he didn’t see buying something you couldn’t wear again. A friend of mine had chcolate and we got some really cute dresses and the wedding was classic looking and as others have said, another color that looks good with all things.

Black Bridesmaid dresses are classy and timeless, the only time I can say they do not work is for a beach wedding.

My girls will be in black one shoulder dresses and I have seen a few wedding where they are all in black and it looks great with colorful flowers or any other accessory!

I love the idea of having black Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses but I’m concerned that my attendants wont stand out from the average guest who is also in a black dress. Do you think they will still stand out as the wedding party during the reception and whatnot?

@apitcher2bee: that’s what i’m worried about as well. i’d like for them to do the whole mismatched/whatever’s most flattering LBD, but I wonder if they’ll get lost in the crowd! i’m thinking maybe give them all a hair accessory in the same color? or cardigans in the same color? because i’m sure many guests will be in black.
