I have choosen my wedding colours – ivory, light grey/silver, blush pink and black. My bridesmaid dresses were to be light grey – an amazing dress within my budget (as I am paying for them all) and everything was fine.
3 out of my 5 bridesmaids have put on SIGNIFICANT amount of weight since we looked at dresses.
I have got the sample and we have been trying them on – they look revolting. The don’t fit, they look awful and the girls arent happy. They don’t love the colour but it’s the dress mainly. They want to add extra straps and the fabric is pulling and making them look bigger and ahhh its just a mess
So i’ve set out on looking for new dresses (thank god we didn’t order them when we tried them on 6months ago). I found two that I thought would look great, well one (that comes in charcoal so not light grey but getting there) doesn’t look great on them although its better and is alot more expensive plus we would only have 4 weeks to alter it (I have 17 weeks till I get married and they need to ge married and shipped here). Anyway It is a non option – the other dress looks great on them but is more expensive but at this stage what choice do I have – the only problem is that they only come in BLACK!
I never wanted BLACK bridesmaids dresses and although I love black and white (that was the theme to my engagement) I think black bridesmaids dresses are a bit much.
What are your thoughts? Did anyone have black bridesmaids dresses? pictures? photos?

@engagedjrb: I’m having Black Bridesmaids – I’ve seen quite a few classy ones. I wore black and white as my SIL Bridesmaid or Best Man. Don’t be disheartened.

I have seen black dresses work really well all the bm’s had a different pop of colour in their flowers – it looked lovely.
What if you added a blush or ivory sash to tie in the colours?

@Soon2BD-CBee: nods it would be classy too if you get the right style.

They will be holding ivory and blush peonies and have pearl earrings and hair clips

I would try the sash idea to break up the black and post them so we can see? Maybe a vote.

I love the both. You said your girls had gained weight I think the first one is more flattering. On seeing the dresses I don’t think you need a sash.

Those are so elegant! Honestly, those are the perfect! If you wanted to do some in charcoal and some in black, that could be an option as well…
I found this pic off the Bee….

My bridesmaids are wearing black and mismatched. I think it’s a quite classic, stylish look. Your bridesmaids will be fine in black.
I do hope that you don’t say “they look revolting” or comment on anyone’s weight gain in front of the bridesmaids though. that could be really hurtful.

Ofcourse not! They said they arent happy with the way they look. I would never say anything. I just want them to be comfortable. Am I annoyed that I cant have the colour and dress that I want? Yes ofcourse but telling them that its becuase of them is not going to help anyone.
I am also thinking of “mismatched” kinda. Like maybe the two above on my 5 bridesmaids.
