Black cats are my favorite!! Your kitties are adorable! So sleek with such big, expressive eyes. My favorite pet we had during my childhood was a black cat named Jones. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have a long hair tuxedo cat right now, but I won’t post a pic and spoil the thread. I’ve heard they have special shelters just for black cats in some areas, because of the adoption issue.

Aww I had one growing up. Her name was Charlotte. I don’t have any pics on here, but my favorite one of her is when she is laying in the microwave. After every time we used it, I guess it was still a little warm and we would leave the door open and she would cozy up!

On a side note I don’t know if it’s normal for microwaves to do that haha… That thing was a relic from when my parents got married.

Black cats are awesome though! She also used to like to cram her body into bread bags like a sausage!

My Bumble Cat- We got him when he was 9 months from a local rescue. He’s a fancy black cat-in his tuxedo ๐Ÿ™‚ He’ll be in 7 in October.

Alba girl- One of my previous coworkers saw her at 8 weeks on the side of the highway in between the far right emergency lane and a big wall- we think she was dumped. She’ll be 2 in October.

All so cute! I don’t have cats but I know their is an issue with black dogs getting adopted too, due to racism. It’s crazy! I have even heard family members say they are scared of black dogs. But I have an all black and a black/white dog and I love them and think black animals are so cute and their eyes are even sweeter ๐Ÿ™‚

@caits615:  I used to have a Tuxedo kitty that was part maincoon. He was huuuge but not fat or even fluffy (18lbs!). We rescued him from the big scary outside world when he was about 2 or so. He lived another gloriously spoiled 10 years. I’ll always have a soft spot for Tuxedo kitties now.

Awww! I had two black cats growing up.  One was black with green eyes, the other had orange eyes.  Green eyed cat showed up on our backstep one day and he was one of the sweetest cats I’ve ever had.  Orange eyes we adopted from the shelter and she was pretty skittish, but still a fun cat.  Both of them ended up getting hit by cars :(.  The only bad luck they had was their own! I would definitely adopt another black cat though and I enjoyed looking at all of these pictures! ๐Ÿ™‚

Our kitty, Minx, burrowed under our comforter.  She doesn’t sleep under them, she just likes to burrow, (I have to shut her out of the room when I change sheets or she makes it very difficult!).  She actually spoons me most nights.  DH is the big spoon, I am the middle spoon, and she’s the little spoon.  DH is jealous because she snuggles me more than him, (I want another cat, and he said, “Why would I want another cat to snuggle you instead of me?” Hehehe!)

Minx living up to her name and hanging out on top of the cabinets.  She jumped up to the counter, then to the fridge, then to the cabinets in about three seconds, and once she got to the fridge, I’m too short to reach her!

Chilling on her cat tower….

And lastly, modeling her pink collar and matching Soft Paws.  For those not familiar with Soft Paws, they are nail caps that cover the nail.  They do not normally stick out this far, and do not interfere with claw retraction, but this was taken five minutes after we applied them for the first time, and she wasn’t used to them yet.  Once she got used to them, I had to keep checking to make sure they were still on because they aren’t nearly so visible!

And Mrs.Charpentier, we know all about the bias against black cats, (and dogs!) in our family.  Minx was supposed to be a foster cat.  After about nine months with us, and very little interest in her from potential adopters, (we had three applications in the nine month span, none of which even ended up coming to meet her in person!), we decided we didn’t want to give her up so WE adopted her.  Oh well, their loss!  WE have a wonderful, loving, cuddly, gorgeous cat!
