@Boopers:  I know you posed this a long time ago but i just wanted to say that my Fiance bought my original black diamond engagement ring from overstock and we were very dissapointed. The ring that arived was very poor quality the black diamond had lots of inclusions and dents in and they werent very helpful when we approached them to return it. after months of speakig with management we have finally received a full refund and i now have a new ring.

Yeah this post is a little old, but here is a picture of my black beauty.

Mine is from Zales.  It was about a $100 cheaper because it was on sale and was below budget.  I have gotten so much crap about not have a traditional colorless diamond though.

This might seem like a silly question, but what do you look for when buying a black diamond? Like is cut and clarity an issue for black diamonds? Would love to know for future reference if I ever buy one!

@London_Bride:  No light really reflects through it, it’s kind of more light bouncing off .. but with any stone there are good quality and bad quality but black diamonds are fragile compared to white diamonds I have heard they break like emeralds can

Also a black diamond is basically pure carbon .. With white diamonds that have black or dark inclusions those are also called carbon spots so technically a black diamond is a gigantic inclusion .. But I love them !

No new info to give, but I think they would look really neat in black gold.

@pfinarffle:  Yea I have seen them set in black rhodium and they look really nice but i still prefer the contrast between black stones and white metal

Got mine from overstock and absolutely love it. It was about 900 I believe, can’t say how much I love it. Get compliments all the time 😀 Overstock was super fast but the box they ship in is pretty ugly

@pinkgreenandyellow:  Ohh love it there’s a perfect example of black rhodium helping the black diamonds look larger and still have the contrast with white metal

@London_Bride:  Cut is huge when it comes to black diamonds.  Because the diamond is opaque cut matters.  The stone does get kind of smuggie so I clean them off.  It very durable, I’ve banged my hand around enough and black diamonds rate as high on the Maid/Matron of Honor scale as colorless diamonds.

They actually have a GREAT selection at Kohl’s! I just bought black diamond studs from them! .5 carat total weight, and about $125! 🙂
