Is there a certain etiquette for the color of the dress a bride wears at her wedding shower? The only dresses I have are black, although I do have one white one that is semi-formal (I wore at graduation years ago). It’s a luncheon at FMIL’s house. I am thinking it’s casual, although my Future Mother-In-Law likes to dress up, and I would feel weird if she’s dressed up and I’m not. My girls say a dress is fine, since I’m the bride. I don’t know if wearing white would be distasteful since white is designated for the wedding day, but is a plain black dress okay?

I say black is ok… Wear what you want and feel comfortable in it is YOUR day… I probably will wear black but maybe a coloured cardigan (mine will be in winter) and some coloured accessories to brighten the look up 🙂
ETA: white should be ok too… Thou that said I think my “etiquette” is way off base cos I usually get shot down and told I am committing a wedding faux pas – least in relation to things I do/am doing for my wedding haha

I think black is always elegant and chic. if that’s what you feel best in, wear it!

I was planning on wearing a black lace dress to my shower, but then found a white dress at Joe Fresh, that I got for free with my points card. I’m saving my black dress for the rehearsal.
