My wedding is the end of September, I am in Iowa. I am praying that it will be one of those awesome early fall warm weekends, but need to plan for some sort of coverup if it is a bit chilly. What do you think of this bolero with my dress?
A couple more details, my colors are black and ivory, I am leaning towards the below shoes (but still deciding between them and a blue shoe), my girls are wearing the below dress, and I was thinking of getting them pashminas in their gift bag. If we did have any pics where we all have our coverups on, would it be too much black?

I think the bolero idea is cute, but I’m not sure about the fur. To me, a fur bolero is a December or January thing not a “fall” wearable. But if you love it, you make the rules!
Personally I’d do ivory over black, but it certainly would go with your black and white wedding theme and the color is a very personal preference thing I think. You could also consider a colored bolero if you’re going to do a “pop” of color with your flowers. You could tie that in with your bolero.

I havea black lace bolero to go over my ivory wedding dress (my colors are black and white too). I say go for it!

I’m not so keen on the fur, but I do think a black lace bolero would look stunning. It would be an interesting twist on the classic lace look, and give your appearance a bit of edge.

I agree with @chrispygal: that IMO September is a bit too early for fur. I also would go for an ivory rather than a black bolero, no matter which fabric you choose. I think you will have enough black going on with your girls dresses that you don’t need it in the bolero, and ivory will keep you looking more bridal.

faux fux is a bit too much for fall, unless its freezing in your area at that time of the year

I personally love it! Kate middleton wore that fuzzy cardigan over her evening dress and it was wonderful! Go for it. =)

Thanks for your advice bees, I totally get where you are coming from with the fur. I am not planning on wearing the bolero/wrap/capelet (whatever I go with) for any of the ceremony or reception, just want to have it in csae any outdoor time is a little chilly. Maybe I am overthinking it, and just need to do some browsing online to see what other options there are. I am hoping something jumps out and screams buy me!! 🙂

Help again, please ladies… Since I blew my earring budget today, and have already blown my shoe budget. I am now thinking maybe I should skip the fancy fur or lace bolero, and go with a silver-ish or grey cardigan. Since I am not planning on wearing it for ceremony, reception, pics anyway. Thoughts? Has anyone done a lace gown with beading with a cardigan, and mind sharing pics?

I dont know what your color scheme is (besides the black/white) but be careful you dont throw things off by adding a silver/gray sweater. Maybe get a thin dressy sweater that matches your dress. yes like Kate Middleton’s reception look. Classic. :0)
but if you get a lace bolero, I vote for the black. I love the black with ceam or black w/ white. its different. But thats just my personality. Everyone is different.

White House Black Market also has some great black shrugs… I found one there for my rehearsal dinner/ post wedding reception.

In my opinion I dont want to see faux fur unless I see Winter or Snow. Just my opinion. I’d go with a different style bolero.
Maybe you could do another type of cardigan/bolero, Chasmere? super soft and a beautiful fabric!
