I love shopping on Black Friday!  I get a good chunck of my Christmas shopping done.  H and I want to get an IPad, so I’ll be watching the ads for deals on those!

@RunsWithBears:  Most ads are already out, just google them. Walmart will have an iPad for $399 with a $75 gift card back.

It used to be tradition each year, my mom would get up at 6 and brave the stores. Honestly though, I think it is sickening that they keep pushing it back each year. Last year most stores opened at midnight which was bad enough, but this year Toys R Us is actually starting at 8 pm!!! When will families be enjoying their holiday dinner? And the poor employees, it’s awful really.

As a side note though, the Best Buy and Walmart ads were packed with unbelievable deals. 60″ LED tv for $600 anyone????!

@Miss Pez:  Walmart will have the nikon d3000 with the 18-55 lens AND the 55-200 lens, travel bag, and 8 GB SD card for $449! I am strongly considering this.

(Edited to correct post) Best buy will have the same deal for $449.

I was planning on getting a fridge but yesterday it was cheaper than the black friday ad so no lines for me! May keep an eye out for an external flash for my Canon.

Oh, I haven’t seen any deals for a flash or a lens alone, on Walmart or BestBuy. Maybe Ritz? But no ad for them so far.

Check or post on the slickdeals.net forum, I’m sure they’d have input.

I have never gone Black Friday shopping. Fiance and I had to work every Boyfriend or Best Friend from 2005-2010, and then we enjoyed having last year off. His mom and aunts usually go, but I’d rather sleep. I might scope out the ads on Thanksgiving (as usual), but I doubt there’s anything we can justify.

@kmarie719:  I’ve seen some ads, but sounds like I need to go searching for more! And I agree – it’s weird they open so early.  I don’t mind midnight, but let’s at least keep it to actual Black Friday and not Thanksgiving.

Howver, I was wondering: For those stores that do open before midnight – do all the doorbusters and sales start when they open?  Or do you have to wait until midnight or 4am ors some such time?  Does anyone know?  For instance, Target says it opens at 9pm on Thursday, but from 4am-10am (or somehting like that), if you spend $50 you get a $10 gift card.  I tried looking through their ad but it wasn’t clear to me.

My SO works in management at a Target, and I refuse to participate in Black Friday. They’re opening at 9PM on Thanksgiving this year. He has to be to work for 7PM on Thanksgiving day. I am pissed.

The only Black Friday shopping I’ll be doing will be online, if that. I’m boycotting
