I am torn between navy or black bridesmaids dresses. I do not have a style picked out yet, but I figure those two are common enough that I could probably find something in either.
I am having a summer wedding that is between semi-formal and semi-casual, if that’s possible. My flowers will be peachy/pink/ivory, and I want my decor accents to be in the warm, ivory/champagne/gold color family.
I want long dresses in chiffon or something similarly floaty. I feel that the softness of the fabric will off-set the formalness of black and create a nice contrast to the softer, more delicate flowers and accent colors. But navy is so pretty with pink, and it would probably lend itself better to the casual aspect of things.
I genuinely like both, and when I asked Fiance if he had a preference between the two, I got first navy because black reminds him of funerals, and then a pause with “but black is a slick color. That could be really cool.” You can see how perfect we are for each other in our decisiveness!

I think navy would be beautiful! It would look so nice with warm, champagne tones and the pinks! And I do think it does make it a little less formal. But if you decide to go with black, I’m sure that would be just gorgeous too! And black flatters everyone! (I guess I’m adding to the indeciveness, sorry )

I have always thought navy was beautiful!!!!! I have seen black bridesmaid dresses which are gorgeous as well, but I think the darkness of navy will still give you that same effect but with a pop of sharp colour!

I think the navy is the pop of color you need. Black is beautiful but doesnt scream summer wedding.

I also say navy. My best friend got married last August, and had navy, pinks, and grays as her color. The navy was really beautiful and matched well with everything else.
When I think black, I think formal, evening, or like, really sleek and cool…like hip New York City type tihng. And since it sounds like you’re going for more semi-formal and semi-casual, I’d say a color would be better for that. 🙂
Oh and I love chiffon. So good choice on that! 🙂 (And something I was told and hadn’t considered–the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress fabric can really compliment the mood of an event, and something like chiffon is great for a not SUPER formal event, vs. something like satin, which has more of a formal feel).

I think navy would look lovely with the other colors you described.

I’m having similar colors and may go with navy dresses. I found this one a few weeks ago and it looked really good on my girls. I thought it would show every bump/flaw, but didn’t at all (even for my sis who recently had a baby). I was going to get them in midnight. It’s a funny color on the website- but in person it’s a dark navy. It also has a little diamond broach on one of the sides that you can’t see in the pic! The dress is mori lee and it’s part of the ava collection.
Oops, the pic won’t attach right. Here is the link! http://morilee.com/Bridesmaids/Ava%20Collection/dressint.php?idves=603&idcat=2&idscat=6&npic=10&npag=1&bsel=

I love navy with blush pinks and whites/ivory (I may be biased since those are my colors) We just picked our Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses they are chiffon, but are short. They look great on all my girls.

i am with the PPs and think navy will look amazing with everything you described. AND i think it will be more “slick” than black 😉 but maybe i am biased because i am always a fan of color over black.

I too am having a summer wedding and picked navy bridesmaid dresses and will be having ivory, pale pink, and bright pink flowers for the accent color. I absolutely love the way navy contrasts with white/ivory! I think black and white is a great combo as well but to me, it appears to be a bit too harsh, particularly for summer. I could just be biased here as I have navy, but I think it is a color combo that you just can’t go wrong with! Now that being said, I did pick a satin dress as opposed to a chiffon dress but I think either material works well.
