I decided on a slim cut tux (black) for my groom. Now on to a tie, I like the look of a bow tie but he has a problem with it… so we might end up with a thin tie. I like thin ties on him he wears one regularly.
Now, my question is, does a tie always have to be Black? I found this nice navy one and thought it would look great but I just do not know if it’s ok to wear a colored tie with a black tux?

@gramgeek: I don’t think ties always have to be black for tux. Think about it, people have lots of different bowtie colors, so why not regular neck ties? I personally like the look of a necktie over a bowtie!

While I’m okay with colored ties, I personally would not do a navy tie with a black tux.

I don’t like Navy and black. Fiance really wanted to wear navy, so we are doing charcoal suites instead of black.

Ok thanks! I guess it’s safer to go with black on black

I agree with PP black tux with colored tie looks good to me….but navy and black usually arn’t paired together. Black on black is safer but other colors can look good as well. My hubby wore black tux with champagne bow tie
