Velvet is waaaay more classy. I think satin looks kinda like old fashioned lingerie

Black velvet.  I know for me, I’m plus size and have big boobs I’d feel like I was hanging out in lingerie with the satin. Not to mention every lump will show in it. Velvet should be ok and nice and warm. But if you’re in California where it can still be hot in October I’d consider another fabric. But most places should be good.

cq123 :  I’ll be honest that I’m not a huge fan of either, but the velvet looks MUCH nicer. The satin looks like lingerie and unless your 10 bridesmaids are all Victoria Secret models they won’t be flattering.

Definitely black velvet, all of those dresses are great choices.

I agree with PP about having a lint roller nearby… I have a velvet couch and everything gets stuck to it. I lint roll and vacuum it multiple times a week.

    The drawbacks with satin slipdress:

If you get hot, it sticks to you.

It is such a thin fabric that if you get cold and are not wearing bra your nipples will be like pebbles on a plate.

    Shows all your body flaws.

After sitting for a time, it will crease dreadfully.

    Can look like lingere.

    Clearly shows perspiration.

Out of your two choices I would go with the velvet as it is more comfortable to wear and is more forgiving. You can also wear shapewear underneath it. In addition to your choices, I would add on #7 or #1 in the velvet.

The slip dresses look more like slips than dresses–not the elegant look you’re going for–and few people can successfully pull them off.

Oh the velvets by far. Those slip dresses are hard to wear and hard to find a bra for . And kind of a bit like a lining rather than a dress, sorry.
