Heck yes, non-traditional all the way!

Umm, no, what are you thinking?

I guess it’s a bit different, because I’m eloping, but I really want to wear a black dress!

soon2bscarborough:  I think black wedding dresses are very elegant! I’m traditional and I’m getting a white one but if it weren’t for my strict traditions, I’d totally get a black gown!  The images you posted of the black dresses are all very pretty!

I HAVE rocked a black wedding dress…I wore a strapless black and gold Gunne Sax gown for my first wedding. Sigh, I loved that dress…

Black leaves your price range wide open.  You can look at bridesmaid dresses, evening dresses and wedding dresses.  I really wanted a black dress for my October wedding but my fiance is so against it that I caved in.  How does your fiance feel about it?

I love the idea, but MOST of the black wedding dresses I’ve seen don’t really look like wedding dresses. Or they look like the more simple ones. Generally they look like any dress that I could wear to a formal occasion, which makes them feel/look… less special? If I can wear it for any black-tie event I wouldn’t feel it was special enough.

But it doesn’t really matter because it’s all cultural. haha. Our wedding attire vs regular formal-occasion attire is totally cultural, and elsewhere in the world is entirely different so… whatever.

I personally would have to have a dress that I can’t justify wearing anywhere else during any other occasion ever ;D

I wanted to wear a black dress. I was planning on getting a plain white dress and having black tulle fitted over the dress. But I am not sure if I am going to do that anymore.

Now I believe I am going to wear an all red dress. I can’t wait! I have time before I am going shopping for a dress. The look on my mom’s face when I told her about the black dress was priceless. We just talked about dresses last night and she is more on board about my non white dress. Like it would matter if she wasn’t.

I say wear what makes you feel good. Wearing a white dress for me pesonally wouldn’t be “me”.
