I’m so in love with the idea of a non-traditional wedding dress and even more in love with the idea of a BLACK one!!! We are doing an October wedding next year, and no, it’s not Halloween themed or Goth themed wedding but I’m still in love with the dark, bold, rich colors. Anyone else have one or going with one? Here’s some I like and am interested in. Thoughts, photos, etc!!

I’m planning to get a traditional dress, but one of my friends is getting married next month and rocking a gorgeous black dress for her wedding! Wear whatever makes you feel most beautiful!

There have been a few posts on black wedding dresses. Do a search and you should find them

I guess it’s a bit different, because I’m eloping, but I really want to wear a black dress!

We are eloping as well but still doing a dress and flowers and whatnot. I think that’s part of the reason I love the idea of the black dress because it’s different and just kind of goes with the elopement thing.

I think black wedding dresses are very elegant! I’m traditional and I’m getting a white one but if it weren’t for my strict traditions, I’d totally get a black gown! The images you posted of the black dresses are all very pretty!

I HAVE rocked a black wedding dress…I wore a strapless black and gold Gunne Sax gown for my first wedding. Sigh, I loved that dress…

Black leaves your price range wide open. You can look at bridesmaid dresses, evening dresses and wedding dresses. I really wanted a black dress for my October wedding but my fiance is so against it that I caved in. How does your fiance feel about it?

Go for it, I wore a black dress and got tons of compliments.

I love the idea, but MOST of the black wedding dresses I’ve seen don’t really look like wedding dresses. Or they look like the more simple ones. Generally they look like any dress that I could wear to a formal occasion, which makes them feel/look… less special? If I can wear it for any black-tie event I wouldn’t feel it was special enough.
But it doesn’t really matter because it’s all cultural. haha. Our wedding attire vs regular formal-occasion attire is totally cultural, and elsewhere in the world is entirely different so… whatever.
I personally would have to have a dress that I can’t justify wearing anywhere else during any other occasion ever ;D

Oh my! These are stunning!
I agree with the PP–a
bride should wear what makes her feel most beautiful.

I wanted to wear a black dress. I was planning on getting a plain white dress and having black tulle fitted over the dress. But I am not sure if I am going to do that anymore.
Now I believe I am going to wear an all red dress. I can’t wait! I have time before I am going shopping for a dress. The look on my mom’s face when I told her about the black dress was priceless. We just talked about dresses last night and she is more on board about my non white dress. Like it would matter if she wasn’t.
I say wear what makes you feel good. Wearing a white dress for me pesonally wouldn’t be “me”.

wow! Thank you so much for sharing. Now, how to choose which one?!

yes, I love the idea of any colored dress. I’m not against white/ivory I just find it fun and unique to step outside the box a bit! Make sure to post Picts of yours when you decide. I’d love to see what color you go with.
