For all you WeddingBees who are tying the knot in a black dress, are you wearing a veil and if so what color, what kind, placed where, and what length? I plan to have a black dress with maybe an accent of color. I have not picked a dress yet, still looking for the right one and may end up with traditional, but was wondering what others are doing. l do not see many pictures of black wedding dresses and even fewer with veils. If you did not pick a veil, did you add something else to your hair like a head or hair piece?

I am not planning on wearing black but I did find an Etsy seller who has some really beautiful mantilla veils:

I’m not wearing a black wedding dress, but this is one of my favourite photos…I wouldn’t do a black veil with a black dress, you’d look like Morticia…but this ivory veil with black lace embroidery is just exquisite.

@peonyinparis: That s so pretty!
@Sam713: Not getting married yet but if I wore a black dress I wouldn’t go for a black veil as that would be too much I think, Ivory would be nice and I would go long.

I myself thought a black veil would be too much as well and I didnt think white would go either. But that ivory veil looks so gorgeous. Thank You for finding that photo. That was one of the examples i wanted just to see what it would look like. All I have been finding are short black birdcage veils to reminded me too much of funerals.

@peonyinparis: What a pretty combination of the black and white veil.

@Sam713: I’ve never liked a non-traditional wedding dress but that black dress and ivory veil may have changed my mind! That dress looks A LOT like the dress I bought (except mine is ivory) so definitely don’t rule out the possibility of purchasing a white or ivory dress and having it dyed black. I’ve only ever seen black satin dresses and the black tulle looks so lovely and light. Hope you find your perfect dress/veil combo!

I would be way too afraid to dye a dress. Ive seen so many horror stories about a tiedye effect or comes out the wrong color. Ive actually have been leaning towards ordering one online from Weddingdressfantasy.com ive read a lot of wonderful reviews and their dresses come in all colors. Bit still one of those things that scares me…

@Sam713: I am not planning on wearing black, but have you considered a nude/ blush pink veil? That might be less harsh than either black or ivory, but still give you a bridal feel. I really like the idea of doing black lace applique around the bottom edge! I think that would be very elegant.
