I don’t know what kind of theme you’re going for at your wedding, but you can never go wrong with candles!  Michaels sells pre-cut quilting squares (about the size of a cloth napkin) in all kinds of prints (I would use a black and white print to add some visual pizzazz!!)  Put that in the center of your table with a few white candles of various heights and wrap black and white ribbon.

OR… if your venue doesn’t allow candles, you can put black river rocks (from the dollar tree or a Lowe’s type store) in the bottom of glass vases and submerge white roses.

Maybe something like this — http://sueleigh.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/centerpiece.jpg

We are date twins, and kinda color twins, and state twins, weird!!!! Our colors are Black, White, and Red.

Our centerpieces are 2 different kinds actually. For 10 tables we have a Triffle bowl, that will have black or red gems in the bottom with water, and then black or red floating candles (opposite the color of gems)! We have black tablecloths at our venue, so I am guessing red gems, but you can do black.

Our other 10 tables are cake stands, which can be set up 3 different ways, like a punch bowl, or a candle holder. So we are putting monogrammed cookies in some of them, flowers in others, and floating candles again in a few.

It’s hard to picture, but if I ever get around to making a mock up, I will post picture. We are both in school, and I live 150 miles from where I am getting married back home, so I will start making mock ups in a few months probably.

Hope I helped! Good Luck!!

I am doing black and white as well. We are having ostrich feather centerpieces on mirrored tiles with black and white linens. Place card holders are gold for a little zing.

Here are some pics of my work in progress DIY centerpieces.  I’m still trying to decide which color lamp shade to use.  My colors are black and white with red.  You could do a black lamp shade with white flowers for just black and white.  My entire centerpiece with the floralytes I will be adding to the top and submersing in the glass beads will cost $30 each.  Keep in mind these are not finished.  I have shirts wrapped around the lamp shades right now. @damaskqueen:

Those are beautiful. I wish that I was more of a DIY person, but I’m more of a love-when-someone-else-does-it and I can buy it (for cheap) person! LOL

OMG! Those are awesome. I would love to copy your ideas if you don’t mind. Can you give me a little idea on what you did here? I’d be so grateful!
