okay listen up girlfriend:

I let a UTI/bladder infection go to long and I couldn’t move. We were on a camping trip and I litereally couldn’t get out of the camper to walk to the bathroom. When my hubby helped me walk there I couldn’t even pee. it was insane. it hurt so bad.

My docs kept telling me I was negative for a UTI/bladder infection but I know it was one, also, I didn’t follow the instructions on the pee cup so that maybe was why they got bad results.

Anyway, you need medicine ASAP or it won’t go away.

I’ve never had a bladder infection, but when I had kidney stones I thought I was dying. That probably doesn’t make you feel better, but…I hope you feel better soon. Get some Lortab. You won’t even feel your brrraaaiiiiinnn~!

Take a big glass of water with a teaspoon of baking soda…one glass once sn hour guarantee the pain will go. Keep taking the medication too.

Don’t waste your money on the ER.

Trust me I had horrible shooting pains in my back and lower stomach. I thought I was dying. I was freaking out about kidney stones or appendicitis – typical hypochondriac. Finally a few days later I bit the bullet and went to Dr. And he’s like yep UTI – not a doubt. But the back pains? Common with a UTI – He banged on my back and he said since i didnt shoot up in pain – that meant that it hadn’t gotten all the way up to my kidneys. Your urinary tract goes from your bladder all the way up to your kidneys. If you have a kidney infection then you wouldn’t be able to move. I had to take AZO for a full 5 days along with the antibiotics. But the pain finally went away. Other then that – lots of water, don’t hold it so go to bathroom often and right away, and cranberry juice or Orange juice. You need the vitamin C.

You may have developed a kidney infection. I would go back to the doctor or the a hospital. This happened to me and I was in a lot of pain.

There is some bad medical advice on here.  Do what your provider recommended and when in doubt, call a professional!

My advice is go back to a doctor.  Continue to take your antibiotics until a doctor tells you otherwise.

Just let me say as a nurse, everyone experiences symptoms differently.  So just because someone says “I had severe pain and it was …” doesn’t mean that’s what it is for you.  A doctor is a professional and they have tests for the reason of diagnosing.  Also a medication may not work for you, so if the doctor prescribes it take it but if within a week or so you still have symptoms that are worsening or not going away in general go back.  They may need to provide you something else.  Never get medical advice online.  It’s not reliable even if people have good intentions.  Healthcare is not blackand white, there is a lot of gray areas.

@berybery:  I know you know better than google or neighbor down the street for advice. I should have sympathized with you when I posted but I had to be “Nurse” and give sound advice instead. But I do sympathize for you. I had a year where I got bladder infections a lot. They would be uncomfortable but one time I didn’t get to the doctor because I decided to “treat at home” with cranberry juice and AZO. My symptoms went away and I thought I was all better. About a week later I was in severe back and hip pain (I serviously felt like I had broken both my hips) and I went to the doctor. I found out that my UTI did not go away it had travelled into my kidneys and I had a pretty bad kidney infection. Since then I do not treat at home with just cranberry juice and water. I go to the doctor as soon as I can. Cranberry juice is good for preventing UTI but it does not affectively treat them for everyone. Again what I said before still stands, what is true for one personwith preventing/treating/symptoms isn’t necessarily the case for the next person. But I am glad you feel better. UTI’s are horrible.
