Is it common to have a bladder infection during your first trimester and not even know it? I just got a call from my doctor (which scared the hell out of me because they said they would only call if something was wrong with my bloodwork) well bloodwork was fine but i have a bladder infection apparently. who knew? i have no signs of it. They prescribed and antibiotic so i’ll go pick that up at lunch. has this happend to anyone else?

Yes – this happened to me the other day. I haven’t had one since I was 15, but apparently they can be more common during pregnancy (I’m almost 9 weeks). She said I may not realize I have symptoms since I feel like I have to go to the bathroom a lot more now anyway. I did have some lower back and abdominal cramping on Monday which has since gone away after I started my antibiotic- I’m taking Ampicillin. The only thing for me is, I also tested as having Group B Strep in my system, so now will have to have an IV drip of antibiotics when I deliver.

I’ve had 2 but they were both in my second trimester. The first was at 16 weeks and the second was at 18 weeks. I went on antibiotics both times and by the second dosage everything was much better.

I had a UTI in my 1st trimester, antibiotics cleared it right up.
I have never had regular symptoms of having a UTI/bladder infection. Every single time, I’ve either had zero symptoms or just had a reoccuring headache.
