I can relate, but I know why I gained weight… the holidays! I have a few thoughts though – are you sleeping enough? Not getting 7 1/2-8 1/2 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night means that you can’t go through all the sleep cycles enough times, which are vital for health, and it really messes with your body. One of the quickest ways to gain weight without changing anything is simply not sleeping enough. You could always be eating too many salty foods/artificial sweeteners, too. Those both cause bloating.  

I know thyroid problems can cause unexpected weight gain, too, so at your next doctor’s appointment, you may want to mention it.

I agree, if you’re doing all the “right” things and still gaining, there could be a hormonal issue. Get a panel by your doc
