Are you having a bartender? That would be the best option because you could let the bartender know to keep an eye on the ones that you think might get out of hand.

@Miss Mellow Yellow: I don’t know what the law is where you’re from, but in Alberta, it’s illegal to provide alcohol to someone who’s already obviously intoxicated. So if you hire a bartender, you could always hold that over his/her head.

Maybe if you just make light of it by saying… hey guys, this is my wedding day, could you just take it a little easy? please, I just don’t want things out of control rowdy, but I still want you to have a good time.

that may be all they need.  They don’t need a lecture as they are adults.  The Bartender would work.  However if you are having a BYOB party, I don’t think it apporpriate to put restrictions or limitations on who can bring what and how much.

Just my opinion.

Peace and Love

PS here in AZ its the same way, its against the law to serrve alcohol to someone who is obviously impared

The laws are the same here in Washington too, and you can be held liable if anyone leaves your party and gets into an accident, if you don’t have the proper paperwork and “supervision”.

I also have some family members that are notorious for getting out of hand with the alcohol. That’s exactly why I’m hiring a bartender. I need that person to be incharge of the consumption. Also, I’m trying to come up with fun activities to keep these family members entertained, distracted, and away from the bar area as much as possible.
