I personally think the “M______________________” line can be confusing if you’re not familiar with it. Our RSVPs say “Names_________________.”

The person also could have been in a hurry and didn’t have time or didn’t think to fill in the names. Can you narrow it down based on postmark?

For smaller weddings I’ve seen the guests names written on the RSVPs by the bride and groom before sending them out but when you have 200+ guests it can get tricky.

Unfortunately it’s too late for you now but the numbering is very common where I come from and tends to be the easiest option (just a heads up for future brides).

Oh and make sure you provide stamped envelopes!! It’s bad bridal etiquette not to and you will always have a few guests who expect one to be there, don’t realise they have to apply their own and try to mail the return card sans stamp. What a waste.

FutureMrsRN:  Haha!

We did online RSVPs so no, but I hear of this a lot. I did however have to ask like 70 people who didn’t RSVP, ugh. I almost felt guilty asking, some people got pretty defensive, ‘of course I’m coming! Why would you even ask?’. Bleh… lots to look forward to! hehe

Sukii:  It’s a bit late for advice about numbering your rsvp cards to correspond with your invitation spread sheet.

I suggest you will have to wait until your rsvp date. You will then call those who have not responded and discover the identity of this anonymous responder.

i got a few blank rsvp’s too, haha. luckily, i was able to track down who they were from fairly easily, but there was one that remained a mystery. it was a ‘decline,’ so it wasn’t like i needed the name for seating charts or anything, but to this day it still bugs me to not know who it was from, lol

julies1949:  Exactly why I said it was too late for her but might help future brides…

Sukii:  sorry, that comment wasn’t meant for you but for the OP. I clicked on the wrong “reply”

We had one come back like this too (I didn’t know about the numbering trick either until after).  Funny thing is, when the time came to track down everyone missing RSVPs nobody said they had sent theirs in so we never found out who is was!
