I read about dying the carpet back but never tried it. At this point you could just give it a try, or call a few carpet places and see if they can do it and for now much.

Did it bleach all the way down to the base of the carpet? I know we are one spot that it was just the top pieces and I was able to cut that portion off.

How about pouring some tea or diluted coffee on it?

@Paiger8:  It would probably come out, but if you’re looking to camouflage it for the sake of a security deposit, just do it after the carpet is shampooed. Or will your landlord do that after you leave?

I would do the tea thing. You could brew it really concentrated and test it on white napkins until it matched your carpet.

Alternately, whenever Darling Husband bleaches his clothes by mistake when he’s cleaning the bathroom, I just find a marker in the closest possible color and color it in.

@Paiger8:  I did the same thing at our old house! What I did was mix Rit fabric dye and water, you can find the dye at the grocery store in tons of colors, in a spray bottle. I did a test patch in the closet or unnoticeable place, to get the color right, it works amazingly well! Good luck!
