I read a thread about this a couple days ago, but now I can’t seem to find it.
Boyfriend or Best Friend and I had sex a week ago. It was rougher than usual, but not painful or unpleasant. Since then, I’ve had some spotting and bleeding. This isn’t uncommon for me, it usually lasts a day or so and then it’s gone. I spoke to my gyno about that and she said it’s normal, and all my paps have come back fine, etc., so I was never too worried. Boyfriend or Best Friend tends to tear me every once in awhile, so I’m not a stranger to the occasional bleeding.
But I’ve been spotting for a week now, and I’m getting a little nervous. I have no pelvic pain or anything like that. No funky odors or anything. I mean, we usually don’t have SUCH rough sex, I wonder if I got cut or something? And it’s the week before my period, but I never spot before my period. I have no symptoms I can attribute to anything gyne related. I’ve had some nausea due to anxiety lately, but that’s normal for this time in my cycle.
I plan on calling for a gyno appointment to get checked out, make sure nothing’s up. But has anyone else experienced this? Especially the length of time I’m experiencing?
I googled it and most of the results say it’s either implantation bleeding (dear God, I hope not) or cervical cancer (dear God I REALLY hope not). I’m just curious if anyone has had a similar experience.

I don’t think if you were “cut” it would be bleeding like that for so long. Definitely talk with your doctor.

Are you on any type of hormonal bc? Only asking because the last time I was, my body didn’t care for it too much and all the extra hormones caused some between period spotting. Got of the bc and it stopped. I can see how the length of time is concerning. Another thing you may want to consider till you see your gyno is stress. Stress can do crazy things to your body and if spotting for a day or so is normal for you, is there a chance stress just caused this to last longer than usual?
The internet has a great way of making you worry. I’m sure you’ll be fine. 🙂 Hope all goes well at your next check up.

Where are you in relation to your period? Certain times of the month, your lining is thinner, making you more vulnerable to spotting during/after penetration.

It happened to me once when I didn’t realize I was not over a yeast infection. It only lasted like a day though.
Please don’t google anymore! Every time I do for something medical I always wind up reading that all my limbs are going to fall off, and I’m dying in, like, 5 minutes.

@claireos: Yes, I’m on low dose hormonal BC. I’ve been on it for about 3 years now, and only had a similar bleeding issue one time, and that was like 4 months after I’d started the pill. I went to the gyno and she chalked it up as my uterus lining changing and adapting to the hormones, which is totally legit. But after 3 years, I shouldn’t think I’d have that problem anymore. Though I must say that the past few weeks at work have been stressful x1000. I don’t ever spot before my period, I’ve been super regular since I started the pill, but maybe you’re right, the extra stress could’ve brought this whole mess on.

@Eva Peron: I’m due for my period on Tuesday. I’m very regular and don’t normally have spotting EVER, not since I got on birth control. When we had sex it was approx 10 days before I’m due for my period, so that seems pretty logical that the lining would be thinner. Maybe it got torn and isn’t “repairing” itself because it’s unstable due to my impending period? Hmmmm… gyno issues creep me out haha. Thank you for your advice!!

@Ms. Peach: I’m done googling lol. I’m a nurse, I should know better than to troll the internet for answers to my health problems! Stupid google making me all paranoid! I’m getting checked out tomorrow, so we’ll see what’s up. Thank you for your post, it made me laugh!

Just go to the doctor! Don’t Google!
My friend was googling some symptoms she had last week and convinced herself she had AIDS. Not good. She didn’t!

If I’m at the day before my period…or on the last day of my period, an orgasm will make me bleed a little bit.

This happens to me almost everytime after Darling Husband and I have sex. It’s always bright red and a lot right after sex and tapers off the hours following. I generally spot for a couple of days afterward, but it’s very light.
I talked to my gyno about it during my last visit because I have Endo, but he didn’t seem concerned.

@Big Truck: This has happened to me too. The last time it lasted more than a day i saw the dr and found some tears which he put some oitment to seal it. I haven’t bled again. I now use lubricant all the time to prevent tears

This happens for me to, sometimes it can lead to like a proper period as well. I have a cyst in my womb though, so it might be because of that (not big enough for drs to be concerned about though, as they come and go)

Yeah, me too. I was told that WHERE the blood is coming from matters… what’s strange for me is that the spot that bleeds is right near the entrance, and it becomes red raw and painful sometimes. Dr just referred me to the vulval pain society, which means either that they don’t know what it is, or that they think it’s psychosomatic (which it can’t be, because it bleeds!). Anyway, I’ve been told it’s not cancer… pap smears are clean… get yourself checked out so you can stop worrying, but otherwise you should know that many kinds of spotting/bleeding have no apparent cause that the Dr can identify. Which means you aren’t going to die/explode, and you probably shouldn’t worry about it.

This used to happen to me. I went off the pill and it stopped. I went to the gyn a few months later and she put me back on the pill, but it was the generic, and it hasn’t happened again.
