So the actual trim that goes around the cake is 3.20 per square inch?  Or the whole cake itself (like the white part too) is 3.20/sq in?  My suggestion would be to make this cake yourself out of cake forms and fabric trim, then serve a real sheet cake for dessert.  In that way, I think you could probably get it done under your budget.  If you could find a similar fabric trim at like JoAnn’s Fabrics, I don’t think the design would be that hard to replicate.  The only thing I think might be hard to do is the cake topper; could you possibly hire out for that since you’ll be saving money in other places?

hello Well I found by another bride this 2 website

http://www.beryls.com

http://www.fancyflours.com

where they sell Edible Bling. Maybe U could by the cake in white and have someone in your family fill it with the edible bling.

Just a thought

Would you consider DIY?  I know I’ve seen tutorials for this, either on Weddingbee or just through Google!

I would think you would be able to DIY this yourself pretty easily. I would just go to the craft store and buy a spool of ribbon and some rhinestones and give it a shot at making it.

Ask you local baker about putting ribbon on the cake, I know the ribbon it’s self is dipped in vegtable oil or some other type of oil before it is put on the cake. Ask them to double check and then find a basic silver ribbon and  buy the crystals or gems and put it on the ribbon and then have your cake person put it on your cake.

That way you get it for a cheaper cost.

Hope that helps.

Look on ebay for rhinestone banding.  You can get it there for $27.50 a yard.  Still expensive, but a lot less!  Also, for the topper – you can get a 6″ topper from Gotta Have It Personalized (Angela Gomez) by emailing her at [email protected], for MUCH less than the big boys.  I got mine and it is unbelieveably beautiful.  The picture doesn’t do it justice.  She personalized it for me and I got it in 4 days from the time I emailed her!

I sell this cake ribbon.  It is $50 per yard/3 feet.  That is a lot less than what you have listed.  Here is a picture of the cake ribbon.  It is 4 rows of crystals.  I also sell the cake toppers on my e-bay website listed below.  E-mail me at [email protected] if you are interested.  Thanks

I too am looking for this type of silver trim for my wedding cake in May.  I saw it on this website for $18 a foot.  That is a bit expensive and my cake is 7 layers.

Joann doesn’t have it.  I looked all over today.  and no luck.

$18 a foot is expensive.  I have brought my price down to $40 a yard. That is only $13 foot.  Let me know if you ladies are interested.  My e-mail is   Be careful with this cake ribbon too.  Soetimes you will find a cheap rhinestone ribbon that does not have any shine, but they advertise like it does.  You need either Swarovski(which is insanely expensive) or czech which is an australian crystal that looks almost exactly like swarovski.  It is georgous!
