Work just announced that we’ll receive quarterly bonuses! In the spirit of my ongoing quest for pefect wedding skin after a lifetime of blotches, blackheads, and bumps,I’ve decided to put that bonus towards some serious skincare upgrades.
I ordered this:
It’s the Clarisonic PLUS, which comes with sensitive, deep pore, and body brush attachments so I can find which works best for me. This set comes bundled with lemon sage Bliss products, which I love, and their Fabulous Foaming Facewash.
I’m also ordering a tub of the Bliss TripleOxygen moisturizer.
I was using “Meaningful Beauty” products but even with my Olay Pro-X brush, I didn’t feel like my face was getting super clean. And although the night moisturizer is really nice and rich, I wonder if it’s too rich. I’m still clogged up! A lot of the system seemed gimmicky, and the automatic re-order thing… nope. I’m getting out while I still can.
So goodbye Meaningful Beauty products, you are going in the mail for my refund tomorrow. Goodbye Olay Pro-X brush, you’ve been a good gateway to the glories of brush cleansing, but you’re just not quite there. I’m getting the REAL THING all around now. Clear skin, here I come!
Anyone else use Bliss products?
And do any Clarisonic users actually use the body brush? No one on these boards has talked about it much, I wondered what soap you use it with and so on.

I really want to try it, but even for the Mia I’m just not in a position to shell out over a hundred dollars. I’ve heard though that the gentler the cleanser the better, like Cetaphil.

@love108: The Olay Pro-X has been pretty good and it’s only $30 at the drugstore. I’ve been using it for 3 months though and the last time I had a facial it was suggested that I upgrade because I have a lot of long-time skin problems to address – acne scarring, permanently clogged pores, and uneven tone in spots. If you just need a good deep clean for daily maintenance, the Olay is great. I’m going to take a chance on the Clarisonic because overall it’s going to be cheaper than glycolic peels and microdermabrasion every month.

Holy crap that stuff is expensive!

Congrats on your new investment in yourself! I’ve had my Clarisonic Plus for about a month, and I LOVE it. My skin has never been this soft and radiant. I’m still working on clearing out all the persistent blackheads around my nose and chin, but I feel like there are fewer each week. I currently use Clinique 3-step skincare, which I started a week before I got the Clarisonic… Before that I was just rinsing with plain water in the shower (I don’t wear makeup daily, so not much to scrub off). The difference has been night-and-day. Even Fiance commented on my skin this week, and he’s not one to notice little details!
Fiance and I both have quite a lot of skin issues (psoriasis), so I’m starting to use the body brush with regular shower gel on my bad spots while showering. It’s too early to see much improvement, but I feel like it helps clear off some of the flaky bits and lets the topical medicines we use soak in better. I imagine it would be the same with regular dry skin and lotion. I don’t see much need to use the body brush on skin that is already normal, though.

@KT808: Sticker shock! Yes, it is awfully expensive. But I’m thirty and DESPERATE to get rid of the breakouts that have been plaguing and scarring my skin for the last eighteen years. If this doesn’t work I am totally saving up for laser skin resurfacing or whatever scary-sounding thing comes next. Plus, I got a refund on all the Meaningful Beauty stuff, so that’s nice.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Clairsonic! I’ve had mine for about a year now and use it religiously! Here’s what I can offer:
1. I use aqua glycolic face wash with it–recommended by my derm, it’s not prescription but has to be ordered via pharmacy or you can get it online
2. If you have a flex spending account with your health insurance, it will cover the cost of the Clairsonic and the replacement heads
3. Make sure to keep your heads clean and replace them regularly. I wash mine with warm soapy water once a week and let them air dry, and I can tell at the end of the week when it’s time to clean them–my face doesn’t feel nearly as clean, and make sure to replace them every 3 months!
I have not used the other heads with mine, I don’t have any acne other than on my face, but I have read good reviews on the body scrubber.

I love the Bliss Ogygen Foaming Facial-smells great and leaves my skin feeling silky. I have also started using the Boscia black mask (think a nose strip for your entire face). I love my Clarisonic and I can really tell a difference when I slack and don’t use it. Good luck!

I have been using Bliss products for about 4 years now. When I was 25 I decided I should start using a moisturizer and Sephora suggested Bliss, “Youth as we know it.” About a week after I started using it I got a compliment from a coworker that my skin had been looking really great recently. I never looked back!

My mom is a QVC addict (like 3 boxes a day) so either her or I have tried every single beauty product they sell on there. She bought the Bliss Oxygen while she got me the Philosophy Oxygen Peel to try. I have really bad skin. Really bad, like never been clear a day in my life, cysts, tried everything under the sun, skin. I LOVE the Philosophy Oxygen Peel. It’s the only thing that keeps my skin semi-under control and when I get breakouts and use it, they dry up almost overnight and my skin does look like it glows. My mom really liked her Bliss, but saw my skin after I used the mask one night when I was staying with her a couple weeks ago and was really impressed. She decided to try out the Philosophy and called me the next day and said she thought that Bliss was so good until she compared it to the Philosophy and now she canceling her auto-ship on the Bliss because it couldn’t even compare to the results she got with with the oxygen peel. I just started the On A Clear Day Primer with .5 Salicylic Acid that I got from QVC last week. Really liking it so far! A primer that primes your skin AND treats breakouts. Woo hoo!
I use the Clarisonic too.

I’ve been debating on a clarisonic because my face is so dry and flaky it always does better when I exfoliate daily. Starting in 2012 I’ve been using all philosophy products and they are working GREAT, except I’d like a daily exfoliant instead of the once or twice weekend micro-derm system they have.
Is there a difference in the clarisonic mia and the plus? The mia seems like such a deal in comparison…

@pccl: The Mia is smaller, it has a different kind of charger (not a cradle, it just plugs into the handle I think) and it only has settings for face cleaning. I liked the price better too but I chose the Pro because I wanted a charging cradle to keep the brush off the counter and cleaner when charging, and I wanted to use the body brush, which is not available on the Mia. I don’t travel a lot, so the smaller size of the Mia wasn’t a huge consideration for me like it has been for others.
That Philosophy peel sounds impressive! I’m going to go snag a sample of that at Sephora!

@kelly105: Do you use anything else from the Youth line? The moisturizer was a little rich for me (I like the Oxygen line’s moisturizer) but I’m wondered if their eye products are nice. I’ve got some fine lines starting to show and I get shadows kind of frequently.

I love my clairsonic! BUT be careful around the corners of your mouth, holy cow I dried them up so bad they cracked, very painful! Otherwise it has made my skin so smooth!
