you really need to increase your water intake if you are increasing your fiber intake.

I don’t really know. I would say if your all backed up a diuretic might be in order. Also make sure you are drinking tons of water.

If you up your fiber intake suddenly, it’s natural to get bloated/gassy. Drinks lots of water to help get things moving.

Your body may not tolerate fiber well and that could be causing the lump.  I take probiotics to regulate my system and it seems to work really well.

I have personally not known anyone with digestive problems get better by eating cereals & bars fortified with fiber (although surely someone here will correct me). In fact, many of the ingredients in those foods are very hard on your digestive tract, and it sounds like yours is already unsettled. I would try drinking more water & taking a probiotic. I would also get your fiber from whole fruits & vegetables. You could try drinking green tea or taking brisk walks- both are natural diuretics.

@megz06:  I disagree about fiber making you poop, or being healthy for you, but, to avoid a crusade against me, I’ll leave it at that.

The leading ingredient in most fiber bars is not fiber, in fact, but a laxative. The other ingredients (sugar, grains, etc) are all things that aggitate the intestinal lining and can ferment in the intestines, causing gas & additional bloating. I know a lot of people are into Fiber One bars & such, but I just really think they work against the problem (even if they do seem to produce some results due to the laxative).

Good luck!

I have been feeling the same way (but less severe) and have been drinking nothing but water abs lots of it!! I’ve also been adding slices of cucumber to the water as I read that cucumber is a natural diuretic. This article also said to avoid things that will bloat u further like salt, processed meats, carbonates drinks and refined carbs (white pasta, breads, etc). Also be careful with diet meals as many are packed with sodium which can cause bloating!!

Good luck and congrats date twin!!! Can’t believe it’s almost here!!!

Dude, no, stop taking fiber supliments. Eat real food like broccoli, and salad, and fruit, and fish, and eggs, and nuts. Your body knows what to do with that. Those fake fiber suppliments just agrivate your digestive track and stop you up. Drink some green smoothies (really delicious actually), limit your carbs and grains. For me they give me gas like crazy, also be aware of your dairy intake. Sometimes dairy can make you bloated as well. And drink lots of water.

Here is my basic green smoothie recipe with optional add ins as you like:

1 cup of water

1 cup of baby spinach, (you can also do Kale, chard, parsley, but spinach has a really mild almost sweet taste, so it’s best to start with that)

1/2 cup blueberries (the color in the berries help to disguise the green, because the green color kinda freaks me out the first few times:)

1/2 cup pineapple, mango, banana, or strawberries (a sweeter fruit for flavor)

(all your fruit can be frozen, it makes it a bit colde and more refreshing that way, or fresh, whatever is easier for you)

Add ins: 1 T extra virgin coconut oil, raw cocoa powder, protein powder (be careful with a whey powder though, this can bloat some people), green or spirulina powder (if you live near a Trader Joe’s they have an amazing green powder called Super Green), honey, anything else you like like goji berries, acai powder, things like that.

This will make your skin glow, and will make your bowel movements really easy and will calm your digestion. You can have it fro breakfast, or dinner, or both. On days I’m really feeling bad I’ll have two of these a day, and it always helps.

Good luck!
