    @mindy_pindy:  Yeah I am sorry I couldn’t answer.

    It really depends on the area and going rates of other hotels. $145 isn’t so bad.

    I don’t think so, at all.

    But some people are only ok with Super 8’s and Motel Six rates. People have different perspectves

    Not for nothing, it’s kind of rude for them to tell you it’s too expensive. You are doing them a favor by lining up rooms, and it’s certainly not your obligation. They can go find their own cheap room if they want.

                For being the Marriot, no thats actually a good price. If it makes you feel better, my wedding is a hotel/casino and it is $165/night for a Saturday. If it were a no name hotel/motel than I would say yes. Keep in mind, if you were wedding is on a saturday, your guests will be getting a discounted rate and a normal saturday stay would cost more  (even if your weddings not on a saturday, its cheaper than a normal nights stay).

    I think @Bracelet00 has a good idea there and I can personally say that it works if you’re looking for rooms for yourself. But if you’re looking to block rooms for wedding guests, they are going to need be at one (or two) hotels and the best way to do that is get a block of rooms.

    Wedding blocks can be expensive but one way to combat the high prices is to get quotes from lots of hotels. Many brides only get quotes from one or two hotels and book one. What they shoud be doing is getting group rates from multiple hotels.

    And you don’t need to call each one. Just use an online service that provides group rates via email. You can use this one http://grouptravel.org/need-a-hotel-for-wedding-guests/block-hotel-rooms-for-wedding-guests/

    Once you have multiple rates, use the rates from other hotels to get leverage with the one that you really want to book at. You’d be surprised at how quickly hotels lower their rates when they see that you have done your homework 🙂
