Go to “Design” on your homepage, then click “Template Designer”. You’ll see it in the upper left of your screen. From there, you can click on “Background” and use one of their pictures, or upload one of your own.

Hope that helps!

You can opt to upload your own picture through the template designer just make sure it is big enough to fit your background or that it is a pattern thatrepeats well.

eta: make sure you click *removebackground image and update before uploading your own image as that may cause a conflict otherwise.

if you are using the old blogger (meaning no template designer) set up you can add a background image directly to your CSS coding in the header section sould look like <background image= *there will either be a colour value here or an image value*> You simply upload your desired image to photobucket/flickr wherever and then paste the img code (html or direct) and voila! there is your background image.

(you can edit your CSS/HTML directlywith the new blogger as well but it is just ‘easier’ for those who don’t know html to use the template designer)

There are a TON of intructionals floating around out there about blogger that are a lot more descriptive than what I have said — I am not logged in or I would give you a full walk through of the HTML editing with proper/more specific tags to look for.
