I’m feeling your pain right now 🙁 Im not even engaged yet but my birthday falls around afl grand finial day! I live away from my family and this year my mum decided to surprise me with a trip for SO and I to go home to Perth for a weekend. YAY!! or not… Apparently I’m a big meanie because final day is the day after my birthday and be wouldn’t be able to sit aroun outside with his mates and watch men in shorts kick a ball between some big sticks like he always does every year! Oh well, ill go by myself and he can miss out on a weekend away. men. Can you tell I’m not a sports fan

@wifey2be:  I am a footbal (‘soccer’) widow. My Fiance is obsessed with football. All year he watches not only his own team play on TV, but every other ‘big game’ (the list of these seem to be growing. You would think I would get a break in the summer when the football season is over, but no. There’s cricket, rugby, F1 (he can only watch F1 when i’m not there – the sound of F1 drives me crazy).

I like football. I know enough to hold my own in a conversation. But enough is enough!!!!!

If his team is playing on our wedding day I have no doubt he will be checking his phone for updates. MEN!

@wifey2be:  Hopefully the wind has already died down a fair bit by late August; do you think that might be an option?

@wifey2be:  My uncle wouldn’t give me a definate RSVP for my Destination Wedding until he knew that his team wasn’t in the finals. Luckily my husband is probably one of the only aussie males that isn’t into AFL or NRL or cricket.

@wifey2be:  Trust me, if you aren’t going to be in Darwin in November I can assure you, it won’t be a hot day! 😛

We had a Gold Coast holiday in October a couple of years ago… I froze my arse off. It’s probably more likely that I’m a big wuss in cooler weather but I do know what hot feels like. Good luck with finding a day, and bless you for being willing to work around hubby’s sports schedule.

@wifey2be:  Haha I haven’t spoken to my husband in days it seems. He’s just… zoned. Welcome to being a football widow!
