To my fellow green eyed brides, any of you wear blue eyeshadow? I’ve been looking at makeup tips and they almost all say its a big no-no for a woman with green eyes to wear blue eyeshadow. I wear it all the time and i think it looks fine. maybe depends on the complexion, idk. Anyway, I was planning on doing a blue smokey eye for my wedding but now im not sure. if i dont ill keep it natural and do a golden browns/black smokey eye which i know i look good in. i did my makeup test cause im doing my own. i just tried it with the blue. i think i would be doing it a little darker in the corners and im doing a darker redish brown lipstick instead of the pictured nude color. just wondering if this looks ok or if i should go for a natural look?

Not my eye (pretty close to the color green tho) but this is what the brown would be like. A goldish brown turning darker then to black in the corner and light up top towards the brow

@jbbs1222: I have similar eyes and blues just never work well. Browns and golds look so much better. I say stick with them.

For me blue eyeshadow is a big no, no matter what color the eyes.

It usually reminds me of some bad decades of fashion. I think brown/neutral shadow looks great on every eye color though!

I tend to avoid colored eyeshadow altogether, but I will use purple eyeliner for evening events (I have brown eyes). When I do this I put the eyeliner on before the eyeshadow, so the eyeshadow mutes the look of the liner. Otherwise, I stick with shades of brown. I think neutrals are classy and enhance your eyes without looking dated. That brown example that you posted is lovely – I think adding hints of gold will go great with your eyes.

I have green eyes and I find that purple really makes the green eyes pop!
Have you thought about using purple? Its very hard to tell from your pic but usually I just don’t overall like the 2 mixed together. I have green eyes and LOVE purples on my eyes!
I think this shade really brings out green eyes!

Here is green with blue….to me it just doesn’t do green eyes much justice

Now here is an example how bits of blue can be used really pretty with green eyes!

I have green eyes, and do have blue shadow that I wear occaisionally. It is more navy and I wear it as a contour colour only on the outer corner with a smokey eye. It is hard to tell what your shadow looks like in your pictures though. I have seen some disasters of blue eyeshadow and others that looks great, it all depends on the shade and how you use it.
I do think neutrals are best, golds and browns with purple undertones work great for green eyes. I will be using the Naked palette that has a gold and some purpley browns in it so it works very well.

@jbbs1222: I have green eyes as well (and went to makeup school) I would not recommend blue eyeshadow with green eyes, it’s too conflicting. Browns, purples, greys, neutrals, black eyeshadow even.

I have green eyes and I do not wear blue eyeshadow. Just doesn’t work on me. I also have blonde hair and I feel like I’d look trashy if i added blue to my eyelids lol must my opinion. I love eyeshadows and love playing with color just never blue!

Purples look best with green eyes (opposite on the color wheel), but browns/golds look great, too.

@weddingbound: i like that idea of using a little of both. i think i would keep it mostly the browns and golds and maybe instead of the black in the corner do like a navy blue and do light blue up by the brow line instead of the white. that could be cool but ill have to try it out and see what it looks like together.
