I’ve been looking into engagement rings and pretty set on Blue Nile as it’s one of the cheapest and because it has a base in Dublin, we wouldn’t have to pay import duty (UK bee here).
However I’d love to see some real life pics !
We are looking at the Classic Four Prong solitaire with a stone around 1/3 carat. Does anyone have any pics of this setting ? Particularly with a smaller stone. Any and all pics, especially side profiles would be amazing.
I am a little worried about the diamond being too high, although I’ve heard you can ask for it to be set lower? Not sure if that would cost extra or not.
But yeah any pics of that setting or UK experiences would be great.

Mine is a classic cathedral setting from Blue Nile. When I ordered it, it was only offered in white metals, so I had to special order it in 18K gold. It has a four prong platinum head. The stone is bigger than what you were asking for, but the setting is close:

Hi! I had that setting once upon a time but I returned and purchased the low dome version..only because I had a 2.5 carat princess cut diamond.. I don’t think you would have any issues with the setting under a carat. What are you trying to avoid? Hitting it or not being able to put your hand in your pocket?

Ahh your ring looks so lovely! Thank you for sharing X

Hi! It’s partly avoiding it catching on anything but also just because I prefer the style of lower set diamonds. I assume they would do it lower set anyway as it’s a smaller carat, or we could ask them to do that, but it would still be good to try and find some images before we ordered for a bit more peace of mind 🙂

I had that ring set with a .25 diamond! I lost it so unfortunately don’t have a picture of it but I liked it. The diamond set nice and low. The only thing I wish was different was the band looked a little thick for my preference with a small diamond.

Ahh that’s a shame that you lost it, but it’s good to know that the setting was low with a smaller diamond – thank you! I did look at getting a thinner band, but I think I’m just a bit too worried about it warping or getting to worn down if I went for something that’s 1.5mm instead of 2mm

I have a 0.5 ct solitaire with 4 prongs- I recently got it reset into a new setting with some side stones, but when it was a solitaire it was a higher setting and I definitely didn’t feel like it got caught on things or anything 🙂
Actually I find that stones around my size look a bit nicer in a higher setting, as I think it gives a bit of an illusion of looking bigger, but obviously that’s just personal preference!

hi! I realize I’m a little late to the party, but I’ve got a low dome comfort fit solitaire from blue Nile and I LOVE it. It doesn’t sit too high and it fits so comfortably.
