I guess I have the one slightly negative review, haha. We had to exchange FI’s ring twice because of sizing (our mistake I guess, but he did order the size he had tried on at the jeweler). The first return went fine. The second took me 3 phone calls/3 different people and over 30 minutes on the phone to actually get the exchange processed and a label sent to me. Apparently the original person never actually submitted the return, so it was just sitting open on my account.

If you do return something, make sure you double box it or it won’t be insured. The first lady told me to disregard the shipping instructions and just to use the label she sent, but apparently it is not insured unless it is double boxed.

@AubByAub:  He should also check out JamesAllen.com, JamesAllen is better because you can actually SEE the diamond you are purchasing and you can request ASET images (which essentially tell you how sparkley the stone will be) from them.

*Trick to saving a few hundred dollars on a diamond (depending on how large the diamond is)…do a search on pricescope.com…the site pools all online diamond vendors and tries to find the cheapest stone for you. If you click on one of the vendors (I always click the James Allen stone), it will direct you to the vendors site and automatically apply a coupon code to your shopping cart. You don’t even have to be interested in that particular stone you selected, just use the redirect from that site and the coupon code stays in your cart for whatever diamond you end up choosing. It works for bluenile as well.

*Also, if he is buying a round diamond- HCA score is important as well (it has to do with the cut of the diamond- you put the angles into its calculator and it will tell you whether or not the diamond is worth purchasing). The Holloway Cut Advisor tool also tells you how well the diamond will fair in regards to light return, scintillation, brightness and fire!

My engagement ring came from Blue Nile. I love it and my Fiance was very happy with their service.

My Fiance got my ring from Blue Nile and we cannot recommend it enough! I was not involved in picking out or purchasing the ring at all (the proposal was a total surprise!) but he absolutely loved the experience of purchasing my ring. The customer service was excellent and my ring is gorgeous. I have a 1.5ct emerald cut in the petite pave cathedral setting and I love it so much. It was also appraised for much more than he bought it for. We recently bought my Fiance wedding ring from Blue Nile as well, just a plain comfort fit platinum band, and we are very pleased with it! My Fiance did also look at diamonds in person before purchasing, so I would recommend that so you can see what you like in terms of the 4Cs.

We didn’t actually buy from Blue Nile, but I did call them several times while we were shopping and was super impressed with the service (answering ?’s). I would also check out whiteflash.com.

I thought the service (answering ?’s) at James Allen was also good, but to see the diamonds, we would have had to pay to insure ship to our location. It didn’t seem to be as much of an advantage to me given the generous return policies of BN & WF.

Pricescope is also super helpful in terms of questions, etc.

I LOVE my Blue Nile e-ring!! It is exactly what I wanted and is so gorgeous and sparkly. I get so many compliments on it. My fiance and I were very nervous about ordering a ring online that we hadn’t seen yet, but you are able to look at the GIA report and pic the specs you want. I love how user friendly the website is. Now that I have my ring I couldn’t be happier. Plus, it is higher quality than anything I found in the brick and mortar stores at a much lower price.

BTW- the picture doesn’t do it justice. In real life it is so much more sparkly.

My fiance got my e-ring from Blue Nile and its gorgeous!! He actually found the diamond he wanted to buy, then asked a few family friends that were jewlers if the price was decent and they actually told him that price couldn’t be beat for the specs!  Their pricing is definitely competitive. My fiance mentioned he also had a great experience with the customer service. Our friend also bought their e-ring through BN!  Highly recommended!!

I just wanted to second PP that suggested James Allen. They have really great images of the actual diamond you are purchasing, whereas bluenile just shows a diamond in that shape. I also love their videos of the rings. It gives you a really good idea of how the ring will look at all angles. (FI purchased from a B&M store, but if I were doing it I wld have gone with James Allen)

My fiance got my ring from Blue Nile and was extremely pleased with the process. He really appreciated that there were no salespeople to pressure him into buying something. When he found the diamond he wanted on Blue Nile he actually went into local jewelry stores to look at stones of similar size and quality to make sure he liked it. He also used the chat feature on Blue Nile and said that the staff was very helpful in answering his questions.

We recently sent my ring to Blue Nile to be resized, which was done quickly and easily (and was free!). I am very impressed with them as well, and we will definitely be ordering our wedding bands there too.

I say go for it!
