I’ve used Blurb for a couple of non-wedding albums and it’s pretty easy to navigate.  I don’t have any experience with other sites, but I hope to use Blurb for my wedding albums in a few months.  Hope this helps!

I just used iPhoto to put together an album for my cousin of some photos I took at her reception.  They have many layouts you can choose from and can organize it in quite a few ways.  The only problem with this is that it’s only on Macs and you have to order iLife to get iPhoto.  So, if you know someone who has it, I’d suggest at least looking at their version to see if it’s something you’re interested in.

iPhoto’s books, as well as Blurb, MyPublisher, Shutterfly, KodakGallery, etc. all have a similar look and feel.  It’s perfect for the albums to give to family, I love them for trip "scrapbooks", and I just got done making one of our first year of marriage.  I have used both mypublisher and Shutterfly.

But I’m with you MrsGG, it’s not the "fancier", nicer, more formal look I am envisioning for my own personal wedding album.  I am willing to wait a bit to be able to shell out the higher amount of $ it takes for the really nice one.
I actually design wedding albums for others and I’m still in the middle of doing mine.  When it’s done, I will print it through a pro album maker, similar to the ones all your photographers typically use.  However, there are few out there that you can use unless you’re a pro photographer or designer.  And though I’ve heard rumors that some exist who will allow brides to do them on their own, I haven’t found one yet.
A lot of them do have professional design services, and I think if you have rights to your pics you can use them for that.  I will do some looking and see what I can find.  In the meantime, if you’d be interested in hearing what I do let me know.

Tanya2s posted about a company she found here:

DIY Albums

I can’t wait ’til she does her album and lets us know how it went. I looked at the company/program, and if she gives it a thumbs up, I will probably go with them.  My complaint w/o having actually done or ordered anything is that the program is really slow.  But my computer sucks, so it’s likely that’s the problem more than the program.

Mrs. Ant also had a great series of posts about albums with some recommendations. Hers were all very pricey (but that seems to be the going rate, according to my photographer), which is why Tanya’s suggestion appeals to me.
