Hey folk, I’m going to be a bridesmaid in a wedding in July. My lovely bride originally intended to pay for our manipedis, hair and make-up. That helped a lot in my budgeting (I’m so very poor) and decided I could do it, and it would just be dress, shoes, travel and 4-5 days of missed work. It’s not perfect for me financially, but it’s important to me. I figured I could do some late-night driving, miss less work, and so on and so forth. I’m commuting in for about an hour the morning of the wedding since I’ll be staying with an aunt, and the day before that I’ll be driving 3+ hours.
Anyway, she mentioned previously that she wanted to do the manipedis, but was thinking it might tip her budget a bit. I figured I’d rather opt out than pay, as they aren’t services I normally have done anyway. Nails don’t much show in pictures, and I’m not having open-toes shoes.
Now she’s at the point where she’s realized she can’t pay for hair and make-up, but I think she still wants it professionally done? I’m not sure, but I’m going to see if I can assure her I can DIY it myself.
This long-winded backstory leads to my point: I need ideas of summery hairstyles that involve my hair being up, that I can accomplish. (Tutorials are fabulous!) I have a lot of layers in my hair, btw, so it has to mesh with that. I have hair that hits a bit below my bra band.
I also need tips on how to make make-up really work on film, as well as stay all day. Foundation suggestions VERY welcome.

Hi! You should check out this blog, its AMAZING and has tons of step-by-step hair tutorials and videos. I was recently a bridesmaid and I had my stylist re-create one of the styles from this blog. (I was too scared to do it myself!)
For makeup, I would suggest checking out Mrs. Rainbow’s tutorials, which I know have helped many a bee!

It depends on how long your hair is, but I collect these (I am hair dumb and trying to get better). They are all pretty easy 🙂
The Simple Gibson Tuck
There are a lot of great ones on pinterest, thebeautydepartment.com has a good amount too. Hope this helps 🙂

You may want to check with her b/c she sounds like a reasonable bride and most brides agreee that asking your Bridesmaid or Best Man to have their hair and make-up professionally done & not paying for it, is a bit much. So now since plans have changed, she may just want yall to wear your hair down. 🙂
But, if you/she wants you to wear it up, I have 2 easy styles that I do & I also have alot of layers.
One is a classic sock bun. I leave my bangs out, but for a sleeker look you could smooth your hair back. You can also do the sock bun to the side, see below my original pic.
The second one I do is REALLY easy (last pic) tutorial is here: http://upperroommama.blogspot.com/2012/02/hair-do-flipped-up-pony-updo.html

@angelapicklebottom: I’ll start hunting!
@AnnieAAA: She’s very reasonable. The thing is that my dress has this bow between the shoulderblades, and it wouldn’t look right to have my hair -not- up. Thanks for the suggestions! I’m going to start playing around.
